Forget the underground. Bring back the Bristol Flyover

Let’s not ! Speaking as someone whose old fiat uno stalled at the top of the thing ! Took what seemed like aaaaaaaggggeeeessss for it to start again, I was sweating buckets !

Had the pleasure of driving over this flyover a good few times, scared the crap out of me everytime 🤣🤣 (52ft long articulated lorry)

Very similar (including the bend to the right) as the still existing Hammersmith Flyover

I bloody loved the flyover. The day I passed my driving test in the mid-nineties, I ensured I traverse it before it got dismantled. To this day, I regret its dismantling. Made zero sense (apart from the fact it was meant to be temporary when it was erected in the sixties).

I remember it well! Was somewhat a treat as a child, I'd beg my Dad to drive up it!

There was one bit that was really clunky. My mate was too scared to drive over it 😂

And the bridge over the road at the bottom of Temple Meads incline with escalators going up to it.

Went over it once on a Raleigh Chopper👍

Used to drive a bus over it. Great fun

Quite an achievement driving over that as a teenager 😎 used to use it on a daily basis when i worked at the Royal Mail Cattle Market @MarkPocknee @Denner28

My friend's Dad helped design it. Scary to drive over in my old Beetle but, boy, did it work. Horrible driving around that area now it's gone.

Bring back all the flyovers. Deliberately removed to build up congestion and push an argument to make it harder to drive around our own cities in our own cars.

First job working in Bristol City Centre used to drive over it daily. Was fun but a little scary!

i thought i had imagined that there was a flyover in Bristol,i used to drive there years ago and was sure i'd seen it,then i didn't go for a few years and it was gone so i thought i had imagined it ha ha

@NickHowes13 My dear mum used to drop a gear in her little green mini, hit her foot to the floor and we would all scream at the top of our voices the whole way, and then laugh as we struggled up rownham. Brilliant childhood memories. ❤️

Urgh ! I used to hate driving over that … even from relatively close it didn’t seem wide enough and I always thought it was about to collapse on me . I had only just passed my test though 🤣

you should dig in to the flyover story, from it's only going to there for 2 year's in the 50's-60's and why it was still up 60-70 years layer, the whole story is one of long running joke like the light rail network and other lie's?

I mean, this is epic. I remember watching someone drive a horse and trap over the flyover in the 90s. That was a sight. What a gem of a film.

@gingerarab look at this. I thought this was a dream when I moved there in the 00's...... but we did this a few times to get to M'field (in the mid 90s?). Good Times.
