We are in the places we are to learn from them, we choose whether or not we elevate from/despite them. I love how he says we decide if we stay in victimhood in blaming our parents for where we're at or realizing they did the beat they could with where they were at. Its not forgiveness that is needed, but an understanding that none of us are perfect, we are each here to grow. And when you add the perspective that we chose our parents when we came here, and ask why, a whole new perspective develops on life. At least it did for me.

this frankly is not enough i disagree — if a parent is abusive, and you know they know better because there are multiple offspring, and each are treated differently, then they simply are not doing the best that they can it’s a lazy excuse to explain bad parenting

This was enlightening! I believe it all starts with self love! You cannot truly forgive someone for causing you pain if you don’t love yourself or you will stay in victim hood.

That is correct. Essentially you’re just forgiving yourself by healing yourself through loving yourself.

people not realizing that some people have abusive parents is one of the most uncompassionate thing you can say or do. There are abusive parents and extending forgiveness is not a RIGHT.
