Are you agile on the sagittals?? Sagittal T1 images are for anatomy, but only if you know how to use them! Here is how I remember the sagittal anatomy 1. Start lateral 2. Find the gyrus that looks like a triangle, that is the pars triangularis of the inferior frontal gyrus 3. In front of it is the pars orbitalis—easy it’s over the orbit 4. Behind it is the pars opercularis. Remember oper sounds like OVER so its OVER the sylvian fissure 5. Behind the pars opercularis is the precentral gyrus 6. Right behind the precentral is the post central—duh post follows pre! 7. Behind the post central is the supramarginal gyrus. Remember supra means above, so it’s above the sylvian fissure. Margin = at the posterior margin of the sylvian fissure 8. Behind the supramarginal gyrus is the inferior parietal lobule. Remember inferior is below supra, so inferior parietal lobule is below the supramarginal 9. More medial is the lateral orbital gyrus. It’s easy, it above the orbit! 10. Even more medial is the gyrus rectus. Rectus means straight, so if you see a gyrus that is straight like a line, that is the gyrus rectus! Hopefully this gives you a handle on the sagittal! Does epilepsy imaging cause you to seize up in fear? Everyone knows mesial temporal sclerosis (MTS)! But did you know there are different KINDS of MTS?? This month's AJNR SCANtastic shows YOU what you need to know in the latest in epilepsy imaging! Here's what to remember: Hippocampus has 4 subfields w/CA abbreviation standing for “Cornu Ammonis”: CA1: Horizontal & ascends slightly. Number 1 on its side is horizontal w/a slight acsent! CA2: Superior hippocampal dome. Number 2 has a curve at the top that looks like a dome! CA3: Hippocampal curve ends & turns toward the dentate. Number 3 makes a curve heading down! CA4: Indistinguishable from the dentate. Number 4 on its side looks like CA4 being supported by the dentate underneath! Hippocampal sclerosis or MTS has 3 subtypes: Type 1 Classic form w/neuronal loss in all subfields Remember this rhyme: In type 1, hippocampus is all done! When are you starting your load? —Most of the games best hitters start there load & get into a ready position to hit before the ball leaves the pitchers hand. —Starting your load when the pitchers hand breaks is a good cue to go off of. Every single pitcher has to do this to throw the ball. Once there hand breaks every pitchers time to plate is close in timing. Giving you a consistent time to start. —Being on time towards the opposite field gap or through the middle for fastball. Gives you a chance to do damage on both pitches. The FB & Off speed. When you get into your advantage counts & have earned your fastball. 2-0, 3-0, 3-1. You can now then shift your sights over towards the pull side gap. —Hope this helps some people! #PlayerDevelopment

The slow and control crowd are ignoring simple concepts and principles of motor unit recruitment. Control is important, yes. But you don’t have to move slow to have control, ask a bull rider. Fast and controlled is what you want in the weight room The effort is what is going to recruit those high threshold motor units and the bigger faster stronger type II muscle fibers Slow is low recruitment and high fatigue. Seems like everyone ignores logic on this topic. If you think you’ve hit your “genetic potential” you probably just need a fresh perspective on training. Start with this idea, that speed and the effort to move loads fast will always yield more motor recruitment and ultimately more strength and hypertrophy

It’s so strange to come up with an idea in isolation but when the real world and the beautiful people within it radiate that idea in real life right back at you it blows my mind.
