Hogg used his time on CNN to blame Republicans for the government shutdown, even accusing Scott Jennings of not caring about people in his home state on ACA subsidies. He was silenced pretty quickly. Sanders: Schumer and I have very fundamental disagreements about where the Democratic party should be, and I am strongly supporting candidates for the senate who are not part of the Democratic establishment, who believe in medicare for all, who are prepared to take on the big money interests and fight for working people. I have a very different vision of where the Democratic party should go. If Schumer steps down, who is going to take his place? The truth is, progressives in the senate are right now—I think there are about 8 or 9 of us. We are pretty much of a minority.

He’s willing to hold Americans hostage just to protect his political career. This is the third continuing resolution this year. Democrats eagerly signed the first two. Why not this one? Because they’re tired of losing to President Trump, and they think a shutdown helps them politically. But we CANNOT and WILL NOT surrender on this. We are on the right side of history, standing with military families, and taxpayers. Schumer is playing political games. We’re fighting for the American people, NOT illegal immigrants. Stand firm. "I think you can always trust our party to do the wrong thing at the wrong time for the right reason," Jones charged. The Senate again failed to reopen the government Friday on a largely party line, with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and most Senate Democrats refusing to budge on their fight over Obamacare. They argue that people who use Obamacare will see their health-care premiums skyrocket if Congress doesn’t immediately negotiate a bipartisan continuing resolution (CR) extending Obamacare tax credits that expire at the end of the year. The CNN pundit acknowledged he might "piss off" some of his Democratic friends before explaining what he sees as the party’s political disadvantage in forcing a shutdown. "So now people are going to be mad about the post office and a hundred other things that Republicans can then blame on us," the commentator lamented. While Jones objected to healthcare premiums going "through the roof" in October, he addressed what he sees as the less harmful option.
