OK, 'stopping is not an option', but continuing means escalation, and that is worse. We lost. Trump stuck the US into a situation where 'winning' was never feasible, something known to actual military experts. The costs of losing are going to be enormous, but throwing thousands of lives and trillions in treasure into the fight isn't going to result in a 'win'. It will just make the loss worse. Under Gen. Clark's prescription, we'd still be fighting in Vietnam and Afghanistan... and still losing, but refusing to accept it. We lost. It's time to get out in the best fashion possible.
Then send your families to fight your wars of choice. And fund them from your own pockets. Leave the rest of us out of it. The vast majority of the American people want nothing to do with Israel, Iran, or Ukraine.

Not a fan of Clark, but most of his points above are irrefutable. Even worse is that fact that Trump's defeat in Iran has emboldened China who is sending munitions and intelligence to the IRGC. I believe that Putin went into Ukraine after Bidens Afghanistan debacle. Why wouldn't China go ahead and take Taiwan now. They see Trump as a paper tiger, they see we have let our munitions dwindle and are low on interceptors. We have a lot of our military tied up in Iran so what would be have to defend Taiwan. The most Trump could do if China invades is shut down all trade with 10,000% tariffs which would lead to a worldwide depression and send Vance to beg Xi.

The USA has to face reality. The petro dollar was going to come to and end eventually and was in that process... but Trump speeded up the process significantly. He gambled and lost. That's reality. That said the dollar is not going to be replaced overnight, it will take years or decades. It is still the most widely accepted currency in the world with an international banking infrastructure and system of exchange unmatched anywhere. But over time its influence will fade... no doubt.
No one wants a big war over the strait of Hormuz. No young American wants to die in combat over it. If the elite want this war, they should stockpile their own children and grandchildren to make up 100% of any military. Put their lives and only their lives on the line. After all, they are the only ones that benefit from this so called order.

Well he’s half right - it’s a major issue if America don’t come out with some kind of strategic victory. Iran will be wounded but they’ll feel they held off the American war machine and feel victorious. That in itself has all kinds of repercussions for Iran’s own regional standing. But it honestly probably looks worse for America in their current strategy of endless engagement and of Trump constantly posting that they’ve got a deal and then 24 hours later bombing resuming, than getting out entirely.
