FYI the whole point in this was studying how NIGGA EVOLVED notice he pointed out her saying “niggas” with a smile because its obvious how it was evolving even then. if u don’t understand how slang terms evolve then read a book study linguistics idk SOMETHING before arguing w me…

She wasn't using a "slang term". She was just saying the [N-word] how they pronounced it in the south.

How exactly do you think terms evolve and slang is created? This is a linguistic prof talking & the topic was him literally tracking the use of the slur and its evolution to its slang meaning today. fyi if you don’t understand what’s being discussed, its best to just be quiet.

Ma'am. I'm aware the N-word became a slang term, eventually... and I don't doubt that the professor was chronicling the slur's use and evolution (into a slang word)... But the woman in the audio wasn't using "slang". She was using the term in it's literal sense.

She was not calling her fellow people a slur 🫩 so NO it wasn’t in the “literal sense” because its literally a slur. This is showing the evolution of how it went from a slur to a term amongst each other to eventually a term of endearment. Hence why we kept the a not the er

I suppose it can be seen as a "slang word" if it transforms from a slur into "a term amongst each other". So I'll concede that. You're right, I'm wrong. Although, I believe we kept the "a" (not the "er") because the word found endearment mainly in the south/southern culture.

i think the problem is you keep separating what ended up happening from WHY & HOW it happened yes, majority of BAs are from and still reside in the south, so yes, it would only make sense that the future reclaimed version would be the southern vernacular rendition of the word.

culture doesn’t happen under a microscope, the n word with an a being from southern vernacular doesn’t change what it came to be and who its used by. the a is what differentiated it TODAY bc culture is merely the result of the many layers within a group of people’s experiences

She wasn’t using slang. That’s how she’d been conditioned to see herself and her people.

No YOU wake up. I don’t find shame in how my people turn everything meant to harm us into influential culture. Take an anthropology class and stfu talking to me like you’re woke. THIS IS ONE WAY SLANG IS CREATED

This is stupid bitch logic. That’s like a woman being raped and saying she took her power back by throwing ass on her rapist.

Huh? u lack basic understanding on how to make an equivalent argument, that is a fallacy. A more equal argument is that its like women putting bad in front of bitch to reclaim the word from men. u don’t have the education or comprehension skills to argue with me. begone gnat
