'Forward-thinking' machine-learning algorithms are having a MASSIVE impact on F1 drivers' performances in 2026 - and often not in a good way... 🤔

I've largely supported these regs, albeit they should be a 60/40 or 70/30 split. But this aspect is impossible to defend. Deployment maps I understand.. but having AI algorithms attached means it's no longer driving. Nor is it an engineering challenge. Needs banning ASAP.

Many of us “traditional” fans have been saying this since the early races of the season……

This is exactly the problem. When machine-learning deployment maps decide where performance appears or suddenly disappears, the driver starts becoming a passenger to the software. Different braking styles affect harvesting, one teammate finds the correct window, while the other clips and loses power down the straight. F1 has gone too far with this concept.

Are they really machine-learning algorithms, or are they closed-loop adaptive optimisers? A closed-loop adaptive optimiser continuously solves a mathematical problem using a fixed model. Machine learning ("self-learning"), on the other hand, discovers new patterns from data.

"Under the radar" Haven't we been slagging off this aspect of the regs since China?

The solution is simple. it can only be used on a push button for up to 7 seconds a lap. minimum deploy quater of a second. full power only. back to the 2009 kers rules.

"THE DRIVER MUST DRIVE THE F1 CAR ALONE AND UNAIDED" FIA's own regulations break their own rule.

WE WAIT FOR MONZA, WE WILL BE DEALING WITH SNAILS

They are definitely aided

@MsportXtra Drivers will soon be there to just keep the seat warm.

mohammed must go.

'Hostages to AI'…..not good for the sport…..🤗🎈🏎️

Fuck sake …..drivers NOT computers

It doesn't take much imagination to think what Denis Jenkinson would have written about this. I miss him, and I think the whole sport does too.

"claude, give me the fastest lap EVARRRRRRR and make no mistakes"

Why don't we give the drivers full control of the battery deployment instead of an algorithm?
