If you think you can manage looking after a cat, then I would definitely recommend keeping it. It looks sooo cute and I reckon it would be a nice buddy to accompany you and your gf. One thing I would suggest though is to train it to stay inside like a “house cat” and let it go outside in the backyard rather than freely roam, as otherwise the cat might get hit by a car or something very tragic, which unfortunately does happen to a lot of kitties (like my neighbours old cat). Also you can probably afford giving it proper food that the vet recommends, instead of crappy cat food

Adopt the cat if your lifestyle and home has the ability to care for it, it's expensive and some people realize they don't have the right needs for their pets well after adopting or buying them. Get it spayed or neutered when it is old enough. Name it Shade or smth

Not gonna lie if you found them in your backyard and it's a stray I'd probably say keep it, especially seeing how young it is as it might not survive properly if you left it out there any longer. If you can't handle having a pet cat then try setting it up for adoption.

The best thing you can do for the kitten is to take it to the vet to check for microchip, vaccination record, owner and testing for FIV, malnutrition plus fleas/worms etc. Don't wait on it. There's special nutrition for young kittens if you're serious about doing what's best.
