How do we know the puck didn’t shape shift under Jarry’s skate though?!

Is NHL 100% over the line?

Yes

Ngl that's pretty close. I think if Edmonton won that way they be like Ducks fans are right now.

@PowerPopJeff Speaking from Calgary, 3 hours south of Edmonton - and from a #Flames fan - Edmonton fans overall would be way worse. They're the most insufferable buncha people in North America. Not ALL of them. just most of them....

@PowerPopJeff I know they are way worst. That's why I have no pity for them lol

I don’t think the puck crossing the line was the controversial part it was the fact that none of the refs had a clear sighting on it originally yet they overturned the original no goal call then reviewed it

Everyone knows it was probably in. That’s not the point. The process seems to change without reason. There’s 50 examples of a puck not being visible but the world knows it’s in. But you can’t confirm it. No goal. This is the same thing.

I’m not a fan of either team. To me it’s very obvious it’s in. My issue is that the rulebook was completely disregarded and it seems like it is more and more every day in the nhl

Here is one I found that doesn't it is inconclusive

A major part of the argument against it being a goal is seemingly "since when does the NHL use logic to make calls??" which is somewhat alarming

Haha I just did it this way... but either way, there is no way that puck did NOT cross the line, full stop.

It is obvious to the naked eye that it is a goal to everyone that does not live in Edmonton

Imagine referees sitting down on MS paint working this shit out during the middle of the game lmao. That's why the "inconclusive" rule exists. What, is the referee standing behind the net going to do this before making a call on the ice?

I’m not sure why anyone is even complaining that puck is well across the line

Clearly over the line. Didn’t even need to see the whole thing to know that’s in. Just common sense 😭

Yeah, puck was in. But calling it a good goal on ice lost them credibility. No ref signalled, no red light, whistle blew, hands up. Would have looked stronger if they called it no goal on the ice, reviewed it, and called it a goal. Now you leave the door open for criticism.

Never understoof why not put like a green line so if it touches green yk its completely over the red

This exact angle called off a Leafs goal in playoffs before where we all know it crossed the line.. This angle is already not true and everybody said before it shows its in quicker than when it actually is. No goal

Larry Gentile's profile picture

It really does not matter "at this point", if it fully crossed the line or not. The call on the ice was a goal and the view of the puck is obstructed. The NHL rule reverts to the call on the ice if the view of the puck is obstructed. They cannot change the call on the ice unless they can fully see if the puck did not cross the goal line.

Jason Mcintyre's profile picture

Dosent matter, go read the rule book, if you cant see the puck FULLY OVER THE LINE its no goal. Have to see the whole puck in the net, not a quarter of it while the rest is covered by a skate. Bettman strikes again. Making sure no Canadian team wins the cup. Hes done it 32 years

Hopefully the NHL can adopt this cutting-edge level of technology soon.

Regardless of your clip, the ref was in no position to say conclusively that the puck crossed the line and that he called it a goal. He never once indicates a goal until the announcement. I think that’s what pissed off Oilers Nation more than anything.

Left extra white of the ice between the goal line as well as the puck circle. Definitely a GOAL

RyanAnderson's profile picture

I don’t think there is a doubt about it being in. The problem is the ref did not see that from the corner and they guessed. They didn’t follow the process in place and that’s wrong. The fact they guessed right doesn’t change that.

It’s just cause the angle. No goal!

ira's profile picture

having to go to this much effort proves the point that there's no chance the refs could have confidently seen that fully cross the line in real time.

Curt Speelman's profile picture

This should never have been called a goal on the ice to start. Not ONE referee could day it was a goal.

Holy shit, are people still questioning it going over the line? Seriously???? I must be in the twilight zone. There shouldn’t be any arguement on this one.
