I've rebuilt my agent stack four times this year. every rebuild landed on the same seven layers. seven. that's it. no framework. no orchestrator subscription. no "agentic OS." probably the only full stack agentic stack you need.

Distribution. Applications. Primitives. Infrastructure. Four layers. Each one connected. $APT burns on every transaction, and could enable access to unique features with staking for performance. Each shaped by network governance. The Full Stack for Markets and Machines.

Ferrari has released a new video of the interior for its first ever all-electric car, called the Ferrari Luce. It was designed with Apple's former head of design, Jony Ive, who recently said "a large touchscreen doesn't work in a car." Car info: • Four-door four-seater • 122 kWh battery • 330 miles of range (European rating methods) • 1,000 horsepower • 0-60mph: Under 2.5s • Four electric motors • OLED screens • Guess cluster screen is made up of several layers. By cutting out holes in the upper layers, Ferrari created displays where the speedometer graphic is below the level of a physical needle, which is itself behind additional drive info and beneath a curved inset lens. • Will have fake gear shifts • Weight: 5,100 lbs

LangChain's co-founder: "memory can be a real moat." the architecture that builds this? four markdown files and a cron job. someone open sourced the full stack. memory layers, self-rewriting skills, a dream cycle that runs at 3am. yes, you should read every word of this.

Will SaaS survive the AI era? Four reasons it may not: - Complexity: Software will be cheaper & easier to build yourself - Model Providers: Foundation model providers will move into the app layer. - Agentic Models: Models are becoming more agentic, they could handle tasks without extra SaaS layers. - Experience: SaaS today is built for human GUIs, AI in the future would not require any clicking. Link to the entire interview with Harry Stebbings below.

NYT's Jon Caramanica describes his experience getting a bootleg TBPN rugby: "When it arrived in my package room, it looked like it had been assembled by a small child." "It was packed into a regular mailer that was tattered at the edges. It had a label from Canada, and there were four or five layers of packing tape on top of the mailing label." "I opened the package. I had ordered one, but I got two. It smelled like cigarettes...It looked like it was made [out of terrycloth]."

.Secretary of War Pete Hegseth "One of my jobs every single day is to go to war with the Pentagon bureaucracy. IT IS A WAR OF ATTRITION that our office intends to win. All four years, we’re going to cut red tape, requirements, and ridiculous layers that have been added time and time again, year after year, mostly by lawyers of big companies that want to prevent competition. We have to tear those barriers down to allow the best companies, American defense or commercial, large or small, to run as fast as possible."

Worth noting Steve Jobs actually studied long-lasting organizations to manage Apple, including the Catholic Church. “We observed the oldest and largest organization in the world has only four layers of management. That's the Catholic Church. And, uh, five if you count the highest order I suppose. So, we see no reason why we need over four layers of management. Indeed, we have usually about three. That’s the president. Maybe, we have a division manager and then maybe under that a marketing or engineering manager. And that's really about it. So, that's what we're trying to do. […] We hire people to tell us what to do. [They] come back and tell us how much it's going to cost and go do it. We've got an incredible group of entrepreneurs…[these] people are very independent thinkers and what they really want is…the environment where they don't have to convince 30 other people that it's the right thing to do. […] We really make an attempt to do that and I guess our feeling is that the day that somebody working in Apple decides that they can't make a difference anymore, is the day we've lost.” *** He was 28 for this chat….full 55-min vid for Aspen Design Conference Talk from 1983:

The reason you breathe oxygen has nothing to do with your lungs. It's because your cells need somewhere to dump electrons — and without a final acceptor at the end of the chain, ATP synthesis stops within seconds and you die. Your mitochondria run a biological transformer: four protein complexes pass high-energy electrons through redox centers like GPU layers in a forward pass, each releasing a small voltage drop to pump protons across a membrane. That gradient spins a molecular turbine — ATP synthase — producing the energy currency that every cell, LLM server included, ultimately traces back to. 7 minutes. Bookmark & watch today.

??? In 2002, a team of archaeologists unearthed a Mesopotamian royal cylinder seal that left them speechless. What looked like an ordinary 4,000-year-old artifact turned out to be a mechanical masterpiece: a seal within a seal within a seal, like an ancient Russian doll made of polished stone. When they carefully rolled out the impressions from its nested layers, one of the hidden images stopped them cold. There, carved with impossible precision into the tiny surface, was the unmistakable silhouette of a modern bomb (fins, nose cone, everything).A weapon that wouldn’t be invented for another four millennia… staring back at them from the dawn of civilization.

Jensen Huang told a room of global investors that AI is not one industry. It is five stacked on top of each other. Most people are investing in layer four and ignoring layers one through three entirely. He called it the five-layer cake. Layer one is energy. Jensen said this is the single greatest opportunity for the energy industry in a hundred years. The first time in a century that the grid in most countries can actually attract serious capital. Nuclear, solar, wind, hydrogen, it does not matter what form. If it produces energy, it gets funded. Siemens, GE Vernova, Mitsubishi. That is why they are all doing so well right now. Layer two is chips, computers, networking, and silicon photonics. Everything that processes the intelligence. Layer three is infrastructure. Land, power, buildings, data center operations. Every single one in short supply today. Layer four is the model layer. OpenAI, Anthropic. The layer everyone talks about. Layer five is applications. Every startup applying AI to financial services, legal, healthcare, logistics, transportation. Last year alone, a hundred billion dollars of venture capital went into this layer. The single largest VC year in the history of humanity. Then he said the number that stopped me cold. We are putting one trillion dollars into this five-layer cake this year. That sounds enormous. Jensen thinks the AI industry will eventually run at twenty trillion dollars per year. We are one trillion in of a twenty trillion dollar per year ecosystem. Most people watching AI are staring at layer four. Jensen was describing layers one through five as a single compounding system where every layer feeds the one above it. The people who understand that will invest differently than the people who do not.

Got some weekend Remix listening for ya! Ryan and I discuss the architecture of a Remix app in this week's Frontend First. Remix does a great job surfacing the core strengths of HTTP with four simple APIs – Links, Forms, Actions, and Loaders – while still giving us a seamless way to enhance our apps with the full power of client-side React. Enjoy! (0:00) Intro (0:31) The Work Journal app (2:20) Making dynamic pages with Loaders (8:00) How Remix relies on HTTP for routing (12:30) Making backend changes using Forms and Actions (19:41) How Remix’s comprehension of Loaders and Actions eliminates boilerplate (25:20) How Remix layers the full power of React on top of web fundamentals Apple: YouTube: Spotify:
