Frankenstein vs. Baragon was released two days after the 20th anniversary off the Hiroshima bombing and knowing Toho's earlier restraint it's a bit shocking to see one of the earliest cultural depictions of the event here. Impossible just ten years before.

The 1953 Hiroshima movie, which had the Prayer for Peace song a year before Godzilla since it was also composed by Ifukube, is quite a harrowing watch. Very gruesome by 1950s standards.

I was shocked myself seeing this scene on first watch. They really grabbed the bull by the horns though and the lights going out as they're about to operate is a nice touch
