The makeup was designed around Michael Leavy’s own features—not to recreate Robert Englund’s face—and created by ‘TERRIFIER 2’ and ‘TERRIFIER 3’ effects artist Alana Rose Schiro. The independent showcase is not an official casting announcement. Read more: [

@Leavs16 @RobertBEnglund Terrible. And if a terrible imitation is what people want, I hope they don’t bother with a new movie.

@Leavs16 @RobertBEnglund Not gonna lie, this looks really dumb, and I hope this doesn't come to pass.

@Leavs16 @RobertBEnglund This is him speaking & not clipped from various Nightmare films? If so, he’s literally perfect.

@Leavs16 @RobertBEnglund Some nice visuals in here. I wouldn’t mind a new Nightmare to visually be in the style of the originals, but if it’s gonna be a new Freddy, it needs to be a new take. This is too much of an imitation. Makes me cringe.

@Leavs16 @RobertBEnglund Great impression, he could do voice over work as Freddy, seems passionate and talented so no hate. But we cant just have someone doing a Robert Englund impression in a new movie. Pass.

@Leavs16 @RobertBEnglund Is this person known? I’m sorry but this just seems like a guy who really likes Freddy and isn’t doing anything original. Also that hashtag is the most self centered thing ever, everybody that’s used it has the same last name as him this is sad.

@SlasherRadio @Leavs16 @RobertBEnglund Nothing about this convinced me to have this guy play Freddy, he’s doing a good impression of Robert Englund sure but I would prefer someone actually able to stand out on their own instead of just mimicking what I’ve seen before.

@Leavs16 @RobertBEnglund Rehashing Englund’s Freddy beat for beat. What exactly was “darker” about this interpretation when compared to the OG or even New Nightmare?

@Leavs16 @RobertBEnglund This ain't it 🤷🏾. It is crazy to me that the 2nd best is scary Terry. Granted, it was animated and played for laughs, but they nailed the body language and the shots to give it that Elm Street and Freddy vibe

@Leavs16 @RobertBEnglund I think I'm with a lot of these commentors. I'm not sure another actor "impersonating" Freddy is the way to go (the laugh and tongue/blade play). Of course people didn't like the remake either...so...maybe there is no making folks happy on this one?

@Leavs16 @RobertBEnglund Why do all these 'darker reimaginings' always have Freddy talk more than in most of the movies? Freddy doesn't diatribe in the dark iterations.

@Leavs16 @RobertBEnglund I love the actor but I don’t want a Robert Englund impersonation or recreating what he did for the character. I want to see this actor create his own version of Freddy without being similar to Robert and much darker. Dialogue is similar to the movies and I don’t thing it matches

@Leavs16 @RobertBEnglund Yeah. NO THANKS. he looks bad (not close to good at all). Glaringly obvious- chubby cheeks on a burnt to death psychopath doesn’t make sense. The way he moves his mouth also looks overly pushed. Pass on this horrendous fan cast. #RICHARDBRAKE should be Freddy.

@Leavs16 @RobertBEnglund I respect the guy but there is only one Freddy and if they are indeed going to remake/reboot this franchise it has to have a bankable name or an unknown under the radar name. Not a cosplayer.

an unsurprisingly pointless impression of Englund rather than anything remotely creative or unique

"It was an abortion, Michael." That line destroys him, because it goes for the one illusion Michael still needs to live with himself. That everything he's done was for the family. Michael can justify murder. Betrayal, lies, exile, coldness. As long as he believes he's protecting his family, he still gets to see himself as something other than a monster. Kay takes that away in one sentence. And listen to how she says it. Not I ended the pregnancy. It was a son, Michael. A son. And I had it killed. She's speaking his language back at him. She did to his son exactly what he does to men who threaten the family. She even extends the word to the marriage. An abortion. Something unholy and evil. That's why his face changes before he moves. Pacino is terrifying here because you watch Michael process it on every level at once. Husband, father, Catholic, Don. Kay hasn't disobeyed him. She's made a decision about his bloodline without asking. In Michael's world that's unforgivable. But Kay isn't weak in this moment. She's terrified and she doesn't back down. For years Michael controlled the truth, the house, the children, the entire story of their marriage. Here she takes the one thing he can never retroactively command. Her own refusal. That's why the slap is so ugly. It isn't rage. It's Michael realizing there's a part of Kay he can't own. The real tragedy is that both of them are telling the truth, in the cruelest way possible. Michael believes he sacrificed his soul to protect the family. Kay believes the family is now the thing their children need protecting from. After this there's no marriage left to save. Just custody, power, and the wreckage of whatever Michael once promised her he'd never become.
