This is some of my favorite advice from Jamie Dimon on how to build a successful career From his commencement speech to the HBS MBA Class of 2009 "There is already a book on you. That book is already being written. And if I spoke to your teachers, your friends, your parents, I would know whether you are trusted, how hard you work, and whether you are ethical I would know so much about you that you would be shocked. I dont even have to meet you So that book is already growing. You write the book the way you want it to be written. You actually have that choice. Do not let others write it."

KIDS: When you lose the puck, how hard are you willing to work to get it back? As a coach, I want you to make plays. I want you to be creative. I want you to play with no fear of making mistakes. The only stipulation I have is that when you try to make a play and you turn it over, you have to work like hell to get it back. Here's a great example from a team that MAKES A LOT OF PLAYS. Tampa turns it over in the Ozone and then watch the effort from the players to get it back. Hounds. They create another turnover and then get rewarded in transition. Coaches, amazing clip to show your teams!!

Bill Cowher says assistant coaches are more important than the head coach, and explains why he coached his coaches instead of his players: “There’s a lot more going on behind the scenes. Let’s be respectful of the fact that we don’t know everything. That’s the receiver’s fault.’ How do you know?” “You weren’t in that meeting room. The game is chess. It’s not checkers.” “We look at the head coaches, but let’s look at the assistant coaches. To me, those are more important. I didn’t coach the players as a head coach. I coached the coaches.” “I wanted them to have that relationship with the player, not just me. If intervention was needed, I would intervene. But let them do their thing.” “Let the coaches call their games. Let the coaches coach the individual players. You can see it from afar and coach the coaches. That’s how you give them a chance to become a head coach.”

Y’all want to be Division 1 players we’ll pay attention… After lifting weights, running 2 400’s, 2 300’s, 2 100’s and 4 half gassers with his team, the day was done. 98% of the players & Coaches were gone. Only a few coaches left, I look out my office window and see this…. MasonBall2027 is different.
