Wow....they should call that a Hydroelectric Dam if they can make a bigger one.

Took a bit of electric power to manufacture the needed equipment, and the materials weren’t free either. The set up is powering an efficient low energy bulb. So the output is not big. All things considered probably not cheap electric energy, definitely not free.

This isn't 'free energy' - this is simply converting one form of energy to another form of energy.

I’ve worked kitchens where the fryer oil was powering more appliances than this contraption.

If it is free then why does the hydro electric company charge me for it?

"Free" except for the cost of equipment, time/work, and maintenance of the mechanisms to actually harness the kinetic energy of the flowing water.

Not anywhere in the Western Europe. You would pay a HUGE fine.

I like how the turbine immediately spins at full speed before is gets fully in the water. Obviously faked video.

No such thing as free electricity.

Fred Wilson's profile picture

its not free. the correct way to do this is to add an offshoot with screening so as to not murder every living creature that passes through.

Congratulations on demonstrating something we've all done at secondary school. Also this is super impractical and doesn't produce that much electricity.

I wonder if we did this on a massive scale? Like what if we did this to the Colorado river or maybe even the Yangtze river? Ehhh. That would just be science fiction
