As U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star began icebreaking operations for Operation Deep Freeze 2026, the cutter marked 50 years of service by breaking through Antarctic pack ice to ensure safe navigation and sustain U.S. operations in the polar regions. Today, the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Kimball (WMSL-756) offloaded 18,898 pounds of cocaine with an estimated value of $214.3 million. This offload is the result of six drug interdictions executed by the crews of Coast Guard Cutter Kimball and Coast Guard Cutter Forward (WMEC-911) from February to April.
