Single bus fares across England will be capped at £2 from January, Prime Minister Andy Burnham has announced. The nationwide cap is currently set at £3 until the end of March 2027 although some areas – including London and Greater Manchester, where Mr Burnham set a £2 limit as mayor – have lower top rates for single tickets. #burnhan #buses #politics

Ridiculous that young people, who are not able to drive as a means of transport, are so often excluded from conversations around concessionary bus travel. We need free bus travel for young people, disabled people, and the elderly as standard - not based on a postcode lottery.

#Update Get used to hearing #SchoolazOnly because the first set of Rural School Buses have arrived in Jamaica and are were offloaded from the vessels this morning. This project will not only directly tackle absenteeism, but will also provide a safe, efficient, affordable and reliable and dedicated transport option for students in ALL Rural parishes. A flat fare of $50 will apply regardless of the route travelled. Phase 1 will see the importation of 110 buses completed by mid July, with a commitment from this Government to expand the service ny purchasing another 200-300 buses within another 2 years to serve the remaining schools. #ChooseJamaica #SchoolazOnly #CommitmentMade #CommitmentKept #PerformanceOverPropaganda

Did you know that the amount of money that the LADoT bus system generates from fare collection is - wait for it - the about the same as it costs to enforce that fare collection. They cancel each other out! At that point, buses may as well be free. 🚏🚌 So that’s exactly what I’m going to do. As mayor, I’ll make LADoT buses free as a part of my plan to improve public transit citywide saving money for both Los Angeles and all the people in it. 🌞

This is all part of our major expansion of our MyCiTi bus service to Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain. The first of its kind in South Africa, we are making public transport more available for all in Cape Town! 🇿🇦🔥 Read more:
