The world we’re living in is becoming increasingly uncertain, and concerns about China are growing, yet Labor chooses this moment to cut our defence budget by $800 million. We get a vague commitment from them that they plan to build a bigger defence force from the 2030s onwards. We just have to hope that, for the good of our national security, this Labor Government is long gone by then! As Pauline says, we need to get serious. The time has come to start backing defence.
