Mississauga has received up to 45 cm of snow. All of our resources are currently deployed: ▪️Crews have been working around the clock to clear major roads for emergency vehicles and transit. ▪️ Overnight, equipment began moving into residential neighbourhoods to complete the first round of plowing on roads, sidewalks and to clear space in driveway windrows. This work is ongoing. ▪️ Work is also underway this morning to begin clearing bus stops. With so much snow on the ground, clean up on all surfaces will take time. Multiple rounds of plowing will be required to clear snow aside and additional work will be required in the coming days to remove snow from areas where it can’t be piled, such as bridge decks and intersections. ⚠️Reminder: A Citywide Winter Parking Restriction remains in effect until further notice. If you don't HAVE to go anywhere today, it would be a good idea to stay off the roads. While there has not been a lot of accumulation, there has been a lot of drifting snow building up on some sections of most roads. OPP officers have responded to nearly a dozen collisions across eastern Ontario since 5am. Thankfully most have been minor, with vehicles landing in a ditch. No serious injuries have been reported. If you must be on the roads, slow down, leave extra following distance, keep headlights TURNED on and keep your eyes on the road ahead. Never pass a working snow plow. They are working to make the road safer for you. The snow is expected to continue all day, meaning things will not be getting better. Every shipment from China must be reduced - 40’HQ container this time - 20’ container next time The final goal is clear: Export 40’HQ containers from Bharat to the world. 🗣️ "We simply will not tolerate people risking the safety of others and themselves by riding electric bikes at speed on our roads and pavements" Yesterday, proactive Roads Policing patrols on Stonebridge Lane saw a vehicle appearing to be exceeding 40mph at about 5pm, but when officers engaged with the rider he rode away. The suspect narrowly missed a pedestrian and was pursued around a nearby housing estate. He rode on pavements and pulled into the path of a car that had to brake suddenly before losing control of the bike and falling off. As the suspect tried to get back on the bike, the officers carefully drove their vehicle onto the bike’s back wheel and detained the rider. A 19-year-old man from Old Swan was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, drug driving, failing to stop, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and using a motor vehicle without third party insurance. He has been released under investigation. The bike was found to be capable of top speeds of more than 50mph as well as having worn tyres, no brakes on the rear wheel and pedals that did not function❌ 🚳 Through Operation Gears, we are taking proactive action by seizing illegal bikes, arresting offenders, and increasing high-visibility patrols where the public and our own patrols identify issues. ➡️ Our activity is aimed at disrupting criminality and ultimately protecting our communities. #OpGears #SaferStreets #Arrest
