The bet is that the space economy will split between companies that own the full stack and companies forced to rent launch, buy components and lease the spectrum they run on. This deal is Rocket Lab making sure it stays in the first category by being able to design, build, launch, refresh and operate its own space infrastructure.

FBI Director Chris Wray said the Chinese will have the "ability to physically wreak havoc on our critical infrastructure at a time of its choosing."
