From The Insiders on NFL Network: Recent history has supported teams paying big-time running backs. And this offseason may feature a new highest-paid RB... twice.

@nflnetwork History says pay them, but cap reality bites later.

@nflnetwork Lions won 9 games and missed the playoffs. Lost a great power back and TD machine in David Montgomery to a 12-win Texans team. Thank you, Lions. How much better will the Lions be paying Jahmyr Gibbs his superstar money? Falcons with Bijan are what again? 7 or 8 wins. No playoffs.

The running back market continues to evolve. Elite players who can impact the game as runners and playmakers are proving their value, and this offseason could reshape the position’s salary landscape. It will be interesting to see how teams balance long-term investment with roster building

@nflnetwork Ian, how many times a day do you have to shave to not have a full beard at dinner time?

@nflnetwork Teams are realizing elite dual-threat backs are different assets.

@nflnetwork "Paying" big time running backs. Means they still make less than like 25 WR's

@nflnetwork Uhhh recent history does NOT support that. Eagles got a SB with Saquon, yeah. But unless I am forgetting someone, no other team has done that and even made the damn SB. Ig if you wanna count San Fran trading for CMC, then sure you now have 2

Two new record deals in one offseason means the position finally has enough recent receipts, Walker, Hall, Achane, Barkley, to make the case that elite production at running back is worth paying for again, and that shift took years of teams getting embarrassed by cheap backs outperforming expensive receivers to finally take hold.

@nflnetwork Write that money has value but also see the intention of the franchise, does he want it?

@nflnetwork Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs both hitting the market at the same time isn't a coincidence, it's two front offices watching Barkley's 2,000 yard MVP run and deciding the running back discount era is officially over.

@nflnetwork Paying running backs top-tier money is a massive mistake that ruins team salary caps. Any team that breaks the record for a running back will regret it within two years.

@nflnetwork Pay them the bag 💰

The real signal here is Barkley's deal itself, a team paying premium money to a back the year after he delivered a Super Bowl, that's the proof point every other GM sitting on a young workhorse back needed to justify breaking from the "running backs don't deserve the bag" doctrine.

@nflnetwork This clip should go on #bad announcing. 🙄

@nflnetwork The RB position is getting its spotlight again. Elite talent deserves elite value. This offseason could change the game. 🏈

@nflnetwork Gibbs needs a wr type deal, him and Bijan can reset the market big time
