During my meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, we discussed the efforts needed to achieve a just and lasting peace. A key focus was on Ukraine’s arms production, particularly the production of long-range missiles and drones. Norway is already directly investing in our domestic defense industry, and we agreed to continue this cooperation. I am grateful to Norway for all its support for Ukraine since the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion and for increasing its assistance this year. We expect defense support to continue growing throughout the year—this is what can ensure Ukraine’s strong position. 🇺🇦🇳🇴

Today, Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre is in Ukraine. I am grateful for this visit and for such support. It means a lot to us. Ukraine will always value Norway’s sincere engagement with our state. We had very substantive discussions on many issues – our defense needs, support for sanctions, cooperation in the energy sector, the efforts of the Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, diplomatic prospects, and collaboration with partners on security guarantees. I thank the Prime Minister and Norway for their readiness to help and work for the security of our people. 🇺🇦🇳🇴

I discussed priorities for supporting Ukraine in the military and energy sectors with Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre. It’s important to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and advance the PURL initiative, which enables us to purchase missiles for air defense systems from the United States. Protected skies over Ukraine are one of the key factors that will force Russia to end this war. We also discussed continuing energy assistance to Ukraine. I thank Norway and the Prime Minister for all the help provided, including the protection of our people's lives with NASAMS missiles and assistance to our energy sector. We greatly value this support.

I thank Crown Prince Haakon of Norway for the meeting. I informed him about the ongoing Russian strikes and the situation on the frontline. Russia continues its terror against people and life. That is why, together with our partners, we are doing everything possible to bolster air defense and enhance protection. Together with Norway, we are building a strategic partnership in the field of security and defense. We are interested in a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership that will strengthen the defense potential of both Ukraine and Norway, in particular through the development and implementation of the Drone Deal. I thank Norway, its government, and all its people for supporting Ukraine. I am grateful for the allocation of €9 billion in assistance for this year. This is important for Ukraine.

Together with Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre Jonas Gahr Støre, we signed an Agreement on defence and security cooperation under the Drone Deal format and a Declaration on a Strategic Partnership – the Ellisiv Accord, named after the daughter of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, who became Queen of Norway. These documents strengthen the foundation of the long-term partnership between our countries in defense, energy, and the resilience of our people. I am especially grateful for the decision to maintain a high level of support and allocate around $9 billion for 2027. I thank Jonas Gahr Støre, the government, and the entire Norwegian people for their support since the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

At Ramstein Air Base, I met with German Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius. Our discussion focused on military assistance to Ukraine for this year, the supply of additional air defense equipment, the future of the Ramstein format, and support for Ukrainian arms and equipment production. Only strong Ukraine’s positions on the battlefield and the empowerment of our warriors will help us force Russia into a just and lasting peace. Ukraine is grateful to Germany for its leadership in strengthening our air defense and for the thousands of lives we have saved together

I was pleased to welcome the Speaker of the Latvian Saeima, Daiga Mieriņa, to Kyiv. We had a substantive discussion on continued support for Ukraine and joint steps aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace across the region. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Latvia has been our reliable ally. I am grateful to Latvia and its people for their annual allocation of 0.25% of GDP for military support to Ukraine, their assistance to our soldiers, and for helping all Ukrainians. We highly value all humanitarian projects and Latvia’s contributions to Ukraine’s recovery. We are especially thankful for Latvia’s support of the Crimea Platform and for hosting the third Parliamentary Summit. 🇺🇦 🇱🇻

I met with the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre Jonas Gahr Støre, in Yerevan. I thanked Norway for all its support for our country, in particular for its contributions to the PURL initiative totaling nearly $1 billion. Russia is not stopping its ballistic missile strikes, so the timely funding of PURL is critically important. We discussed our strategic partnership: the Drone Deal and efforts to strengthen air defense, as well as cooperation at the level of the private and public sectors. We paid special attention to energy support for Ukraine. I informed the Prime Minister of our needs, particularly regarding natural gas, for the coming winter. Ukraine must enter it prepared. I am grateful to Norway and personally to Jonas for the readiness to help.

During my meeting with Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas, we discussed military cooperation, particularly the need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense to protect energy infrastructure. I am deeply grateful for Lithuania’s unwavering support and comprehensive assistance to Ukraine. Your help is a vital contribution to our struggle for a just and lasting peace. We greatly appreciate Lithuania’s annual allocation of 0.25% of its GDP to support our state’s defense and security needs. The new Lithuanian Government made its first visit to Ukraine in its entirety immediately after being appointed. This demonstrates Lithuania’s clear priority for the alliance between our countries. We in Ukraine deeply value this.

President Stubb: We are closer to peace than at any time during the war. But at the same time, we cannot be sure whether Russia is ready for peace. Peace is most often a compromise. We must prepare ourselves for the fact that not all parts of a peace agreement will likely meet our sense of justice. However, we will do everything we can to ensure that Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity are preserved. Ukraine is part of a free and democratic Europe now and in the future. We will continue to support Ukraine. We will not tire. We will seek a solution. We will work with our allies to ensure that Russia never again attacks Ukraine.

In Germany, I held a meeting with Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz Olaf Scholz. I am grateful for the comprehensive support, especially the military assistance provided to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. I am grateful for the leadership in strengthening our air defense system, which saves Ukrainian lives. We also discussed the implementation of the Peace Formula and preparations for the second Peace Summit. I greatly appreciate sharing our efforts to bring a just peace closer.

Excellent talk with Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський after a full day of meetings in Kyiv and a touching and inspiring commemoration of Ukraine’s independence. We discussed our continued support for Ukraine and the way forward. The EU has stood with Ukraine since the very first day of Russia’s war of aggression, and we will continue to stand by Ukraine’s side. Ukraine can count on us. I commended the work that is being done to fulfil the accession reform criteria, under very challenging circumstances, and encouraged Ukraine to continue on that path. EU membership is the best way to ensure strong, democratic and independent institutions in Ukraine.

Continued support for Ukraine was the main focus of my meeting with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala in Brussels. I am grateful for the comprehensive support of Ukrainians in their fight against Russian aggression. Ukraine is counting on making the upcoming year as productive as possible for Ukrainian-Czech relations. Today, we discussed Ukraine’s current defense needs, with a particular focus on bolstering air defense systems to protect strategical energy facilities. Strengthening Ukraine and supporting our soldiers on the frontline brings the end of the war and a just peace for all of Europe closer.

As Ukraine is facing the aggressor, its military and financial needs must be met. We are disbursing a third payment of nearly €3.5 billion as part of the Ukraine Facility. Europe remains united and resolute in its support for Ukraine for as long as it takes. #StandWithUkraine
