Guided by the vision of Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, India is steadily reducing its dependence on coal imports while strengthening domestic production and energy security. The nearly 13% decline in coal imports in April 2026 reflects the Ministry of Coal's continued commitment to import substitution, enhanced domestic coal availability, and a resilient energy ecosystem. Stronger energy security means greater savings for the nation, enhanced self-reliance, and new opportunities for every Indian. This is not just about coal; it is about building a stronger economy, a more resilient energy sector, and a Viksit Bharat. This is Modi Ki Guarantee. Sharing glimpses of India's journey towards a self-reliant coal sector:

The Government of India’s coal gasification initiative marks a transformative step toward strengthening the future of the coal sector and India’s energy landscape. Coal mining in India began nearly 252 years ago, around 1774, with the first coal mine at Raniganj in West Bengal. Today, through coal gasification, India is witnessing the beginning of a new revolution in the coal sector. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the coal sector has undergone a remarkable transformation. Before 2014, the news headlines around coal were often associated with uncertainty and negativity. Today, the sector is moving forward with confidence, reforms, innovation, and a renewed vision. Over the last 12 years, the Government has introduced constructive and reform-driven initiatives that are reshaping the coal sector’s future. As India moves towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the coal sector carries a major responsibility and Coal gasification is set to play a defining role.

This IITian hasn’t bought an LPG cylinder in 7 years—and the reason is unbelievable. By turning his neighbour’s kitchen waste into cooking gas, Priyadarshan built a biodigester that powers his stove for free. From waste to fuel, he’s saved thousands of cylinders and inspired hundreds of homes. We throw waste and pay for gas. He flipped the script. Would you try this sustainable switch or stick to LPG? #SustainableLiving #CleanEnergy #LPG #EcoInnovation #GreenIndia [LPG India, Food Waste Recycling, Biogas Technology India, Sustainable Cooking Solutions, Renewable Energy Innovation, Eco Friendly Living India]

India is not merely navigating the global energy transition - it is helping shape its direction. As the world’s 3rd largest energy consumer, 4th largest refiner, and 5th largest exporter, India today plays a central role across oil, gas, biofuels, and emerging clean energy pathways. From scaling biofuels from 1.4% to 20%, to expanding clean cooking access from 14 crore LPG households in 2014 to over 33 crore today, and steadily increasing the role of natural gas, India’s approach balances self-sufficiency with global cooperation. Our vision of Atmanirbharta is not inward-looking. It is about securing energy for India while contributing responsibly to global energy stability and growth. #IndiaEnergyWeek2026 #EnergyLeadership #EnergyTransition #AtmanirbharBharat #GlobalEnergy

Beyond Pokhran: India’s Secret Nuclear Weapon for the Next 500 Years. While the world fights over oil, India just found a 500-year cheat code buried in our own sand. 14,000 kg of coal OR 1 kg of Uranium? Science is cool, but India’s Thorium plan is cooler. We’re moving from 'Importing Energy' to 'Exporting Boss Energy.' Get the full scoop on how we’re ending the global energy monopoly. Ritika J Chandola

Under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi, India is accelerating towards energy security and industrial self-reliance through innovative utilisation of domestic coal resources. 🇮🇳 Coal Gasification can transform our vast coal reserves into syngas for fertilisers, methanol, hydrogen, and downstream manufacturing, strengthening the economy, boosting value addition, and advancing industrial self-reliance. With a financial outlay of ₹37,500 crores, the initiative is expected to attract ₹2.5–3 lakh crore in investments and create around 50,000 jobs, backed by long-term policy support and indigenous technology development. China just tested the world’s first 630°C ultra-supercritical thermal power unit, a breakthrough that’s less about “coal” and more about materials science, efficiency, and energy security. At 630°C, every extra degree is a fight against physics itself. But China did it: • 50%+ thermal efficiency • New G115 high-temperature alloy fully domesticated • Saves 217,900 tons of standard coal annually • Cuts 588,300 tons of CO₂ per year • Provides a replicable model for stable, clean(er) baseload power While some countries debate energy transitions, China is engineering them, one turbine, one alloy, one milestone at a time. People say that "coal" is outdated, but China is transforming what is considered outdated into a future of efficient energy technology.
