I had one of those moments today that really showed me how much Tesla’s FSD has improved. We were heading to our next destination, and I turned on FSD in my Cybertruck. Instead of taking the obvious route out of the parking lot, it made a turn and drove straight into a parking garage. At that point, my significant other was yelling at me to disengage bc she didn’t want to waste time. Her argument was simple… FSD will probably get confused in a situation like this and we may end up going on an infinite loop FSD ride here. A parking garage is a pretty challenging environment if you think about it… multiple levels, ramps, tight turns, parked cars, limited visibility, and signs that can be easy to miss. But I told her I wanted to see what it would do. My thinking was that the latest version of FSD is much better at understanding their surroundings, reading signs, recognizing where they are, and making decisions based on what they see in real time. Sure enough, after realizing it wasn’t on the correct path, my Cybertruck kept moving, analyzed the situation, followed the garage layout, went all the way to the top floor, found the exit, and drove itself back out. Then it continued toward our destination without me touching the wheel. What impressed me wasn’t that it made a wrong turn… tbh human drivers do that all the time. What impressed me was that it recognized the situation, adapted, and successfully recovered on its own. Years ago, that probably would have been the end of the experiment bc it would go on an infinite loop, eventually resulting in a disengagement. Today, with FSD v14.3.4, it felt like watching the AI handle an unexpected problem and work its way through it. For me, that’s one of the biggest signs of progress in Tesla FSD, where it’s not 100% perfect, yet being able to make sense of a mistake, figuring out a solution, and moving forward.

Dangerous left turn handled exceptionally well by FSD v12.3 If you live in LA you will know that these unprotected forward facing left turns are the most dangerous part of driving here. And they are all over the city. It is obvious that the Tesla AI team has spent a good amount of effort into training the FSD v12 system to handle these with caution but also confidence. v11 wouldn’t even dare go through that. FSD V14.1.7 | Near Accident This is without a doubt the closest I have come to getting into an accident in a long time. I think had I not taken over and slammed on the brakes we would not have slowed down in time. You can see that FSD does an incredible job reacting to the car (even before I noticed it) and was slowing down, but it was not slowing down enough to stop in time. As soon as I saw the car swerving to the right I worried she was going to bounce back into my lane so that is when I decided to go full on the brakes to stop the car. You can see prior to me taking over we were full regen braking (which is FSD reacting well) but it wasn't using any real brakes at all, and ABS was not active until I took over. Let me know what you all think in the comments. I still think FSD is incredible - the reality is if you watch the video the car saw and reacted to the situation before I did, it just didn't brake as agressively as it needed to in this situation. FSD + an attentive driver is without a doubt in my mind still safer than a normal human driver who is not using FSD.

Sprinkle of Cybertruck FSD mishaps. FSD v14.2.1. FSD was getting ready to make a left turn. In fairness, I pushed the pedal as there still was time to make the turn before the oncoming car. However, I took the foot off and the truck came to a stop. Then when the turn was almost complete, FSD threw the red hands and the message said "Aborted with a system error." If you are wondering why I looked at the camera in between, I wanted to make sure it was recording the situation. I have hours of video footage I recorded while driving on FSD 14.2 and 14.2.1.

Reasoning is what really changed the game with FSD V14, and as they implement more of it, it’s going to be game over. Here’s a great example. FSD exits the parking lot of this coffee shop. If you zoom into the nav at the top right corner, you can see that it’s telling me to turn left (illegal to do so here). This has been a map error at this shop for a while. On all previous FSD versions, I’d disengage here as FSD would try to make the illegal left. With V14.2 reasoning, the car gathers context, understands it isn’t supposed to turn left here/ignores nav and triggers the re-route.

This Tesla FSD 13.2.2 FSD drive in the Financial District & "city" highways in Manhattan is the most challenging drive I have ever recorded or seen online. Watch as Full Self Driving navigates for over 2 hours (condensed to 45 min) in the most complex parts of New York City. I was exhausted by the end as FSD dealt with difficult situation after situation. This version is absolutely better than 13.2.1 and significantly better than any v12 version. First time FSD (Supervised) for my mom, raw and uncut I just let my 70 yr old mom take a full drive on FSD From home to the Supercharger, and watched something shift in real time At first a little hesitant but she got used to it super quick, I did not expect this at all!! 🤯 By the end of the drive, she wasn’t just relaxed, she was amazed. Laughing. Pointing things out. Talking about how this could change driving for people her age. This is the moment people underestimate It’s not about tech specs or edge cases It’s about what happens when someone who didn’t grow up with this technology experiences it for the first time and it just works. Welcome to the future mom!!

FSD V14.2 Ambulance Fail As always I think it's healthy to show the good and the bad with FSD. Last night when I was out testing 14.2 I ran into an issue where an ambulance was coming from my right and FSD failed to notice it in time. I ended up having to disengage which marked my first and only (non-nav related) disengagement on V14.2. Let me know what you think in the comments.

FSD V14.1.1 Drive Thru V2 Last night I posted a video of FSD V14 handling a drive through perfectly. I rolled up the window after each 'stop' and held my hand out of the window at the end to try and keep the car from moving. Well this time I did none of that, and the car actually did better than last time. Incredible stuff - how do you all think Tesla AI has managed to do this?

I hesitate posting this for a bunch of reasons, but I think it's good to just be transparent about everything. I love to highlight all of the incredible things that FSD does, but I also think it's good to talk about any issues that it has currently. In my opinion the E2E on the highway needs some major changes. This clip was from my drive yesterday, and it is without a doubt the most dangerous situation that FSD has put me in. Yes, I am aware that it is FSD Supervised - everything that happens in the car is ultimately my responsbility. I just was wanting to see what the car would do, and I was hoping that it would make a better decision to be honest. Let me know what you think.

FSD v14.3.7 doesn’t proceed on an advanced green This is the first time ever (?) that I have had FSD sit at a green light at not proceed. What’s also interesting is you can see the turn signal turn on for a second and then turn back off - but in the car the nav was 100% set to turn left. Any ideas? Has this ever happened to any of you.
