FSD is basically psychic when it comes to driving - how?

Clues it saw that we didn’t: No brake lights on the vehicles. Truck’s back door was up. Truck’s hazard lamps were on. All of these (and probably more) bits of information contributed to the decision to go around the stopped traffic. A human would’ve eventually done the same, but probably after sitting there for a while wondering why nobody was moving.

I went around and did it again and next time I got there 2 humans were sitting there waiting, but as you said they did figure it out and go around. What really tripped me up was the right blinker, I figured he was waiting to turn ( I realize i said left in the video)

It is staggeringly amazing how fast FSD can figure out what’s happening and react correctly!

Your FSD is psyshic and mine doesn't realize that changing lanes to the left from the exit lane 1.5 miles from a busy exit I have to take isn't a good idea. Your FSD graduated college Summa Cum Laude and and mine dropped out of middle school. 🤣

No brake lights means parked

Literally drives on opposite side of road for 20 seconds then stops 10 ft behind the stop sign line on wrong side of road for a second lol

People have to remember that FSD used to be overly cautious and would stop to wait for that pedestrian to cross at the stop sign. But it calculated the pedestrian’s speed and trajectory and knew it had the time to make the turn before the pedestrian even reached the road. Very natural and smooth!

Jokes on you. Tesla took an illegal right turn as it didn't yield to the pedestrian about to cross. Ann Arbor has a stupid ordinance that vehicles have to yield if a pedestrian is "standing at the curb waiting to enter a crosswalk."

We'll have to grow a few more eyes to match that level of awareness. FSD already uses more eyes than a fly has to allow it to escape a fly-swatter. @Tesla cooked up a super fly with FSD on the road.

Saw the hazard lights on the white truck

The white van had its hazard on, also it's stationary, leaning towards the right side of the lane. These were all clues and computer does it hundreds of times quicker than humans.

It was interesting to compare FSD’s take on the situation with human drivers on the next loop around. It did seem to be superhuman in this instance.

Small piece of rebar in the road. I thought it was a stick. After FSD drive on it as it clipped the inside of the left front tire…clanked on the underbody then flung in out the back onto the curb. Luckily no damage. Other times it swerves around man holes.
