🙀Can you believe it? Just not far from Shanghai’s Oriental Pearl TV Tower, a shopping mall in the North Bund has already turned into an empty ghost town! Shanghai is experiencing urban hollowing-out. 📹 This video was posted by a Shanghai blogger on August 23. On a Monday at 6 p.m., he walked around the North Bund in Hongkou District and found that the inner ring—Shanghai’s very city center—was truly deserted. 📐Covering about 4 square kilometers, the North Bund is an important corner of Shanghai’s “Golden Triangle.” It used to be lively and full of life, but now residents have moved out for various reasons, leaving the area cold and quiet. 😢The blogger said this reflects the “hollowing-out of the entire city of Shanghai.”

So the coolest area in Shanghai now is West Bund, which used to be a factory & port area. The factories have been turned into museums & performance art spaces, a bunch of riverside retail followed, and a lot of AI companies moved into the offices nearby. I can’t keep up with all of the changes. I thought the AI companies were in Caohejing & I was told that nope it’s now West Bund lol (It’s got pretty good crowds, it looks empty because I was filming right before a big thunderstorm & it was muggy af)
