A father, in Watts, California, was driving his child to school when ICE stopped him and arrested him. When asked why, the agent says: “He didn’t cooperate… he didn’t give us an ID… that’s why.” Not: “He’s undocumented.” Not: “We have a warrant.” Not: “He committed a crime.” Because he didn’t hand over his ID. But, here’s the problem… ICE can’t just pull someone over, or detain them, without a legal basis.
