After it supposedly shuts down.... Hit the circuit breaker on your surge protector. Not only does it make sure it's shut off and not spying on you etc...but it saves energy.

I think someone is smoking something. Every time I turn off my PC, the uptime counter starts at zero and continues running until the next reboot or shutdown. The shift at shutdown brings up some additional shutdown and reboot options for diagnostics that’s all it does.

No, I'm absolutely sure, because I unplug the unit from the power supply...

What's the benefit of doing it this way? And what's the not-quite shut down computer doing while you think it's turned off? @grok ?

Not true, shift has nothing to do with full shutdown. Shift+Shut Down will bring you to UEFI menu where you can choose to start your PC into BIOS or Recovery Mode (amongst other options)

A way to make you think your computer starts up really quick. When in fact it's only in a sleep modus.

Microsoft has always been a nuisance. First thing to do is optimize it for your own personal use, remove & shut down unnecessary junk & nosy spy crap. The system runs snappier with little to no problems. If you can, only use a separate but dedicated/optimized system for internet.

Shutting down your PC is usually just an anticlimax compared to actually hitting that big project deadline you were dreading all week. What's the real reason for this sudden mandatory power-off?
