🚨The chat asked Dj Akademiks why Drake’s Iceman records currently have low radio numbers despite dominating streaming platforms 👀📻 Ak broke down how radio “servicing” works and explained why most of Drake’s songs are showing almost ZERO airplay right now. 🗣️ Ak: “Drake has absolutely zero radio airplay on most of these records.” According to Ak, the issue isn’t that radio stations dislike Drake it’s because the songs reportedly weren’t officially “serviced” to radio by the label yet. Ak explained that radio airplay works differently from streaming: 📻 A song has to be pushed into rotation by a label’s promotion team 📻 Stations then repeatedly play the record “hour on the hour” 📻 Billboard counts those audience impressions toward the Hot 100 charts Ak says Drake’s current chart positions are being driven almost entirely by streams and sales, not radio support 🗣️ “Right now it’s going off strictly streams and sales.” He also explained why artists like Bruno Mars and Ella Langley currently show stronger airplay numbers: 🗣️ “Their records are already being serviced to radio.” Ak noted that radio only affects the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart not the Billboard 200 album chart. He then revealed that Drake’s team is reportedly beginning the radio rollout NOW for records like “Janis” and the West Coast-inspired tracks from Iceman 👀 According to Ak, if Drake’s records still have no radio push several weeks from now, it could raise bigger questions about the relationship between Drake and his label. 🗣️ “If the label stops doing their duties… that becomes another conversation.” Ak ultimately believes Drake’s numbers are still extremely strong because the project is succeeding without major radio assistance, something very few artists can pull off in today’s music industry
