Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security falls under mandatory spending which makes up for 60% of the federal budget,and discretionary spending makes up for 30% of the federal budget (national defense, education,transportation, law enforcement, border security, environmental protection) net interest on the national debt makes up for 14%-19% of the federal budget. The U.S spends $4.2 trillion on mandatory spending a year. The U.S spends $1.9 trillion on discretionary spending per year. We spend $1 trillion per year on net interest on national debt. Democrats created the social programs that add the most to the national debt AKA social security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
