Western Imitation, Local Destruction: How Drunken Celebrations Are Ruining Our City image This is not our city’s culture, and it is certainly not our country’s culture. What we are witnessing today in the name of New Year celebrations is the unchecked influence of so-called Western culture that is ruining the image, pride, and values of our city. Drinking excessively, falling on the streets, fighting in public, abusing others, and creating ruckus on roads and footpaths is not celebration it is irresponsible and shameful behavior. True celebration reflects joy, dignity, respect, and togetherness, not chaos and lawlessness. Turning public roads into drinking zones, disturbing families, harassing passersby, and endangering lives after consuming alcohol only shows a lack of civic sense and moral responsibility. Such actions tarnish the reputation of our city, which has long been known for its culture, discipline, and inclusive spirit. Many people come to this city from outside to work hard, build a better life, and contribute positively to society and that is welcome. But choosing drunken misconduct, public nuisance, and violent behavior in the name of a “good life” is not progress. It reflects poor values and disrespect toward the city that provides opportunities and livelihood. Our streets are not places for drunken drama. Our festivals and celebrations should never become excuses for breaking the law or humiliating our culture. The youth, in particular, must understand that freedom does not mean indiscipline, and enjoyment does not justify harming others or damaging the city’s image. If such behavior continues unchecked, it will only lead to stricter laws, loss of public trust, and a permanent stain on the city’s reputation. It is time to celebrate responsibly, respect local culture, obey the law, and uphold the dignity of the city and the country we are proud of.Heartfelt thanks to BengaluruTrafficPolice official, who worked tirelessly, sacrificed their own celebrations, and stood firm to ensure public safety and order. Respect the Uniform Do not misbehave with the police. They are on the roads for your safety and the safety of others, especially on New Year night when risks are high. While police officials are performing their duty and calmly asking a drunk youth to sit and cooperate, this young man is instead misbehaving, arguing, and showing disrespect. Such behavior is completely unacceptable. Police officers are not on the streets to harass anyone they are there to prevent accidents, control crowds, and ensure that celebrations remain safe and peaceful. When a person is drunk and out of control, the police have every right and responsibility to intervene. Instead of cooperating, creating a scene and disrespecting officers who are only doing their job reflects arrogance, indiscipline, and a lack of civic sense. This kind of misconduct not only puts the officer at risk but also endangers the public. While thousands of police personnel sacrifice their own New Year celebrations, stay away from their families, and work through the night to protect citizens, it is shameful for any youth to respond with aggression or defiance.Freedom does not mean behaving recklessly, and celebration does not give anyone the right to insult or obstruct law enforcement. If youths cannot respect the police who are ensuring a safe New Year night for everyone, they are disrespecting the city itself.Such actions must be strongly condemned. Celebrations should be joyful, responsible, and lawful. Respect the police, follow instructions, and remember that their presence on the streets is the reason many families can return home safely. Misbehaving with police officers on duty is not bravery it is irresponsibility and disgrace. Karnataka State Police S. Education Without Responsibility Is a Lie Education means nothing when people clean their own homes but throw garbage on the roads or in front of someone else’s house. Cleanliness is not the responsibility of the municipality alone; it is equally the duty of every citizen to keep their surroundings clean and hygienic.Such irresponsible behavior reflects a lack of civic sense and respect for society. Throwing waste in public spaces not only spreads filth and disease but also shows disregard for the people who live around us. A truly educated person understands that cleanliness does not end at their doorstep it extends to streets, neighborhoods, and public spaces. These practices create a negative impact on society, damage the environment, and undermine collective efforts like Swachh Bharat. Roads and public areas are shared spaces, and treating them as dumping grounds is unacceptable. Civic sense, discipline, and social responsibility are just as important as formal education. If we expect clean cities and a better future, people must change their mindset. Real education is reflected in actions, not certificates. Respect for public spaces, proper waste disposal, and responsibility toward society are essential for building a clean, healthy, and civilized nation. Karnataka State Police S. Bengaluru’s Billion-Dollar Image, But Not a Rupee for Its Roads? This is the so-called "Brand Bengaluru" a city that claims to be the Silicon Valley of India, yet its roads tell a very different and disgraceful story. The condition of Vibgyor High School Road is absolutely appalling, filled with massive potholes and deep craters, some of which are perpetually filled with water. It becomes nearly impossible for commuters, especially school children and parents, to travel during the rainy season. The road is not just an inconvenience it's a serious safety hazard. One cannot help but wonder: What has happened to the public money collected through taxes? Why is the Maheshwar Rao.M, IAS turning a blind eye to such basic infrastructure issues? Year after year, roads are dug up, patched shoddily, and left to deteriorate again. Is this negligence or sheer incompetence? This road is not an isolated case; it reflects the overall collapse of urban governance in Bengaluru. While crores are spent on branding campaigns, smart city projects, and beautification drives, the most essential requirement motorable roads remains ignored. How can we talk about "Brand Bengaluru" when people can't even walk or drive safely in their own neighbourhoods? The silence and inaction of the BBMP and local government is shameful. Are the lives and daily struggles of citizens not a priority? Do authorities only wake up when elections come around? It's time for accountability. Tax-paying citizens deserve much better than crater-ridden roads that resemble war zones. Enough is enough. The people of Bengaluru are tired of empty promises and hollow slogans. The real face of "Brand Bengaluru" is not the skyline of glass towers it's this broken road that thousands of citizens are forced to endure every single day. Karnataka State Police ChristinMathewPhilip Maheshwar Rao.M, IAS Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike

Youngsters performing dangerous stunts like doing wheelies on Bengaluru roads while holding swords in their hands is not just a display of recklessness but also of complete disregard for public safety. This kind of behaviour reflects an alarming decline in discipline and a cheap obsession with “going viral” on social media platforms like Instagram. Such stunts not only endanger the lives of innocent commuters but also put the perpetrators themselves at grave risk. By riding without any sense of responsibility and by brandishing weapons, these individuals are creating an atmosphere of fear and chaos on public roads. Their actions are not acts of bravery or “coolness” but examples of a disturbing and immature mentality that glorifies lawlessness. It appears that some of these offenders are repeat violators who continue these antics with impunity. The Bengaluru City Police must take immediate and strict action before these acts lead to tragic accidents or embolden more youngsters to imitate them. Roads are for commuting safely, not for turning into stages for life-threatening stunts. Such behaviour deserves strong condemnation from society and swift, visible punishment from law enforcement to send a clear message: endangering public safety for online fame will not be tolerated. Throwing garbage carelessly on roads, footpaths, and public spaces and then blaming bbmpcommissioner and Maheshwar Rao.M, IAS is not a solution. Civic responsibility begins with the people. Cleanliness is not only the duty of the administration; it is a basic civic sense that every citizen must practice. Dumping waste “here and there” reflects negligence, indiscipline, and a complete lack of respect for the city we live in. At the same time, civic sense cannot grow in isolation. It is also a genuine request and responsibility of BBMP and GBA to provide proper infrastructure for waste disposal. If garbage bins are placed on every street, at regular and accessible points, people will be far more likely to use them instead of littering the roads. Public convenience plays a critical role in shaping public behavior. So the real question is not one-sided blame. Is it the fault of citizens who lack discipline and basic civic sense? Or is it the fault of the administration for failing to provide essential facilities and systems? The truth is, both share responsibility. Citizens must stop using the absence of bins as an excuse to litter. Carrying waste home or disposing of it properly is a small but necessary act of responsibility. Clean cities are built by mindful citizens, not by slogans and complaints alone. However, authorities like BBMP and Greater Bengaluru Authority must also step up by ensuring adequate bins on every road, regular waste collection, awareness campaigns, and strict enforcement of rules. Only when civic sense from the people and efficient administration from authorities come together can we expect clean streets, healthier surroundings, and a city we can truly be proud of.Cleanliness is not optional. It is a shared duty, and blaming alone will never clean our roads. Karnataka State Police S. Only in Bengaluru Unicycle Ride Through Traffic Leaves Commuters Stunned A classic “Peak Bengaluru” moment was witnessed once again on the city’s busy roads, where a man was seen riding a unicycle in traffic, seemingly to beat the notorious Bengaluru congestion. While the act may appear impressive and even entertaining to some, it is important to highlight that this is not a safe practice on public roads.Riding a unicycle in heavy traffic requires professional-level skill and extreme balance, and even then, it carries significant risks. Bengaluru roads are known for sudden potholes, uneven surfaces, and unpredictable vehicle movement. A minor loss of balance or an unexpected obstacle could lead to serious accidents, not only endangering the rider but also posing a risk to other motorists and pedestrians.Public roads are designed for standard vehicles, not for stunt-like activities, no matter how skilled the individual may be. Such acts, when performed in traffic, can distract drivers and create unsafe situations. While creativity and skill are admirable, road safety must always take priority to prevent avoidable mishaps and ensure the safety of everyone sharing the road. Karnataka State Police S.
