He's not a skeptic, he's a cynic. He has no intention of changing his mind regardless of the evidence presented to him. Waste of time and very hard to watch.

The head of the Skeptics Society is the biggest psuedo skeptic out there. Jesse was being nice. When pressed on any of the science this guy would crumble. His ontological wellbeing and his bank account cannot and will not allow for anything esoteric to exist. Even if it means concocting wild eyed conspiracy theories like swamp gas and sea birds to try and explain away thousands of years of anamolous activity.

you should consider giving some YOUNGER minds, like @AmericanALCHMY Jesse Michels and/or @UAPGERB a job at the newly formed UAP Science Advisory Council. You should consider the effects of negative energy like that of @michaelshermer and how that will tarnish "stuff" & no doubt affect results, answers and/or outcomes. It's not a 20th Century science fair. We are operating within the realm of the unknown. Get some progressive, "open-minded," fearless types at work there. Why not? Seems only logical to me. It's not rocket science. Pun intended. Peace on 🌎

I hate this douche. He can't see his own hypocrisy. Because his "friend" the scientist tells him we "THINK" dark energy is this....he believes them? There's way more proof of objects in the sky that are PHYSICALLY tracked than dark energy.

@AmericanALCHMY Yeah this doesn’t sound like a skeptic. It’s more cynical & stubborn than skepticism but the reasoning behind is it intriguing. Whether it’s more psychological/existential based or due to a conflict of interests between what he’s paid to do versus wants to believe…who knows. 🤷🏼

Alien VS predator > Jesse Michaels vs sexual predator

@PaulVanderKlay

This is honestly like CIA vs the public on what should be told and what shouldn't be.

The episode had a bit of the old Kennedy vs Nixon debate about it. :) The youthful, well read Michels was open and charming. Shermer, while not sweating under the lights, kept arms tightly folded throughout as if determined to not let anything get through. Was good discussion.

I felt there was too much talking past and over each other in this one to really enjoy and engage with this discussion. My takeaway is - are there interesting things we don´t understand - absolutely. Do we have enough evidence to come to any meaningful conclusion - absolutely not.

I’m in hour two of this fascinating debate. Schermer seemingly trusts the government narrative or uses that position as a shield for his assertions.

@AmericanALCHMY Damn, it’s like the foundation of his mind is loose and constantly shifting sand — but then he chooses to temporarily solidify it into rock as needed, based solely on bias, to allow himself to believe whatever he wants to believe.

Both of you guy's ability to recall names and dates and books and cases is fascinating

Again Jesse, kudos. I couldn't have not hit him.

and again it's not 5 to 10% unexplained it's 20% at least because of the wording of the categories I mean jeeeesus why does anyone listen to this guy. I don't understand it, I haven't researched it, I get some facts wrong but I'm qualified to oversee this. Fuck me temu Mick West

Belief is accepting without reason

There is none so blind as those who will not see.

Only an hour in but now I know who @g_knapp is talking about when he says the ufo communityu demand you must show me the aliens. The ship has to land on the whitehouse lawn. He must be from Missouri.

It's the UFO == aliens jump that is disputed, it would be like someone saying dark matter == a huge wheel of supermassive cheese at the center of every galaxy.

Wow, he can't defend himself. Why doesn't he just admit it, he is consciously choosing to ignore it as he's been programmed to do so ;)

Got his a$$ nice one!

If you were 'lining up your ducks' for disclosure, you'd invite Mr Shermer to the party. Once you've convinced him, you'd have a respected voice to his wide audience.

Omg this guy is like that old deposition of Bill Gates. "What do you mean believe" "What is it we're talking about"

This was a perfect line of reasoning and questioning Think Shermer better get used to nervously laughing a lot in the coming months, years, decades because his championing a lost cause (maybe not for his handlers paying him) but anyone with a half an analytical brain will get it

These interactions were 🔥. The pauses also highlight the infuriating bottleneck of human language: thoughts are iterating on both sides & yet, here we are, limited by the relatively slow (& always imperfect!) translation of those rapid, parallel-processing thoughts, into words

He talks like Luis Elizondo.

I mean technically we are there. There’s a group of people that are well aware.

Pfft. Not interested in anything he says about UFOs. Won’t listen to any interview you do with him. Ever. He is not a true scientist or scholar. IMO. (He may have expertise and worthwhile things to say in other arenas, but not this one.)

I respect your patience Jesse. As far as these “skeptics” are concerned, they have made themselves irrelevant as far as I am concerned a long time ago. Minds too deeply affected by the “materialists mind vrus”.

Shermer simply couldn't get out of his own way.

Fear is a thing

Great Job Jesse, you made him think there!

You're such a troll Jesse 😆. Its very clear what he's saying here and you're stuffing words into his mouth here! 😆
