Am not sure why this is considered new, refined maybe but definitely not new or unique In 1980s we use to have wooden TV consoles like below and they functioned similarly

When I was a kid, we had a similar cabinet, only with a hard outer shell. Cool as this is, I prefer one with a shell. It keeps the doors from snagging coats or similar nearby items.
