Tesla FSD is moving cars from the factory floor to the loading dock without a human driver, cutting out labor costs and improving efficiency. The first company to benefit from this? Tesla. And the same will happen with Optimus. When humanoid robots take over repetitive tasks, Tesla will see operational costs drop while productivity gets boosted. How will competitors ever keep up with Tesla? Difficult to see them catching up any time soon.

Driving through the mountains of Utah today, watching Tesla FSD handle the drive while I simply took in the scenery, I couldn’t stop thinking about where this is all heading. I really believe there will come a day when steering wheels, pedals, and even manually driving a car will feel as outdated as riding a horse to work or using a flip phone today. People will look back and wonder why we spent so much time stuck behind the wheel when technology could do it more safely and let us use that time for the things that actually matter to us. That’s why I think Tesla FSD is one of the most consequential technologies being developed today. It gives people their time back, reduces stress on long drives, and it enables a future with far fewer crashes & deaths. If autonomous driving reaches its full potential, which I believe it will, it will fundamentally change how we live, travel, and connect with one another. Sitting here while my Cybertruck drives through scenery like this, it feels like I’m watching the beginning of a massive shift in transportation and I bet future generations will wonder how we ever accepted driving ourselves anywhere.

A lot of parents ask me how my kids spend so much time learning, reading, and asking questions, and why we don’t load up our summers with endless camps. The truth is, some of our best learnings happen right in my Tesla. While Tesla FSD handles 100% of the driving, our road trips become productive family time. We bring books, laptops, and our curiosity on our rides. My kids read, learn new things with Grok, research topics they’re interested in, play educational games, and ask questions about the world around them. With Starlink keeping us connected anywhere, the car becomes literally a mobile classroom. What’s funny is that my kids are growing up thinking this is normal. To them, learning with Daddy while traveling down the highway feels completely natural. Years ago, road trips were mostly about getting from Point A to Point B. Today, they’re an opportunity for our family to learn, create, explore ideas, and spend quality time together. The combination of Tesla FSD, Starlink, computers, books, and AI has completely changed how our family travels.

We would increase our headcount, to be clear. But we would increase our output. The units produced per human… The total number of humans at Tesla will increase, but the output of robots and cars will increase disproportionately. The number of cars and robots produced per human will increase dramatically, but the number of humans will increase as well.”
