That’s because the top is all filler. Freeza doesn’t use that ball of energy attack in the manga he just blasts once and then trunks does burning attack and slices in half. The anime dragged it out, the clips from Super Hero is manga accurate.

It's a bit misleading since Frieza never throws the supernova/death ball in canon. So you linked the wrong top part.

If I saw this happen today with absolutely no knowledge of DBZ I’d have probably been livid about how Frieza was treated like a joke to prop up a new character. Come to think of it that’s always been something of a sore spot with Trunks for me.

I know it's DBZ but this is the clearest example of how One Piece is paced now vs how it would be paced in a proper adaptation.

If i remember right during DBZ when Gohan wasn't able see the fight due how fast it was. Piccolo said focus on them and he was able slow down and see it. Might be why the fight went fast. He saw it without focus.
