It’s the eve of the grand reopening of Lakewood CC. Our 1921 Tillinghast original is ready to be unveiled to the membership tomorrow. Here is the final flyover of our new #4 (old #11). This par longer 4 is in the running for biggest hole transformation. When our architect Keith Foster first walked the golf course, I asked him what his fav hole was and he said this hole because of its potential. Two massive original Sahara bunkers that were never filled in with sand were brought to life. The first tree on the right off the tee was removed yesterday and the view is even better. Enjoy

A devastating road traffic accident has claimed the lives of six people and left six others injured after a commuter omnibus veered off the Harare-Bulawayo Road and plunged into a deep concrete-lined gully filled with water. In a statement released on 30 July 2026, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that the fatal accident occurred on 29 July 2026 at around 10:00 p.m. at the 9-kilometre peg along the Harare-Bulawayo Road, near the Tynwald Rail Road Flyover close to the Harare Drive junction. According to police, the kombi was carrying 11 passengers when it left the roadway and crashed into the water-filled gully, resulting in the tragic loss of six lives. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals mortuary for post-mortem examinations, while the six injured victims are receiving treatment at the same hospital. Police said efforts are underway to identify all the victims and notify their next of kin.

Another flyover of a major construction project at Giga Texas, this one Cortex 2.0 where AI training for the Optimus Robot (and possibly some FSD training) is taking lace. The plant is still partially operational with about half of the Megapacks & cooling systems installed while the second half is well under way to be completed later this summer/early fall. Once completed, I expect there to be about 260 Megapacks dedicated just for Cortex 2 operation, while there is already another 72 Megapacks in operation for Cortex 1, located on the south end of the main factory,. Cortex 2 is located just south of the new Optimus 10M/yr run rate factory which itself is under construction, so this is a convenient location for both her at Giga Texas!

Great to be in Black River for the opening of Level 8 Gaming & Dining Lounge, a strong sign that new investment and energy are returning to this historic town. Black River has always been a place of firsts in Jamaica, from electricity and piped water to the island’s first motor car in 1903. It’s fitting that a new chapter of enterprise is beginning here. With major infrastructure projects underway, including the South Coast Highway expansion, Treasure Beach aerodrome development, and the Negril airport project, St. Elizabeth and the wider south-west are being positioned for stronger tourism, commerce and opportunity. Commendations to Richard Cole and the Cole family for continuing to invest and lead with confidence in Black River.

NEW: Kim Jong Un reportedly watched as his brand new 5000-ton warship toppled over right in front of him during a failed launch into the water.
