Footage is rough. The solo is not. Randy Rhoads tearing the 'Mr. Crowley' outro solo live in 1982.

#Ozzy. “Mr Crowley.” 1982. Chicago. It’s not often you see any live footage of Randy Rhoads, let alone the precise moment Ozzy lifts him up — captured in THAT iconic photograph…

#Ozzy. “Mr. Crowley.” 1982. Aside from the infamous After Hours TV gig, this might be the best footage we’ve got of Randy Rhoads playing the Crowley solo — and even for a bootleg, this rendition just sounds nastier. Randy’s guitar tone here sounds like razor blades & chainsaws ⛓️

The greatest metal photo of all time was taken in 1982 when Ozzy Osbourne picked up Randy Rhoads during the Mr. Crowley guitar solo. This is the rarest footage of that iconic moment.

Rumor is that Ozzy was on such a perma high, cloud nine w/ the genius of Randy Rhoads that he became insecure — and envious — about others trying to copy his playing style, and that’s why there’s such little footage of RR. Nonetheless, behold “Mr Crowley”

For Randy Rhoads fans — 8mm clip of Ozzy in 1981 at the NYC Palladium. A film student was granted permission to use his college Minolta Super 8mm camera for a class project. The kid held the camera stationary with his elbows on the stage. Here’s a choppy snippet of “Mr Crowley”:

Carlos Cavazo replaced Randy Rhoads in Quiet Riot, and Rhoads is the reason he got the job. When Randy left for Ozzy, he told the band to call Cavazo, because his own guitar students kept saying the kid was good. Here's the solo that proved him right, 1983.

Ozzy Osbourne with Randy Rhoads performing "Crazy Train" in 1981. Randy is one of the world’s greatest guitarists. Such a tragedy that he died young in a stupid light aircraft accident. His brilliance will live forever.

Ozzy. “Mr. Crowley.” 1986. Ultimate Sin tour video — ok so Ozzy might be in his vampiric Dolly Parton era here, but at least we get some camera shots of Jake E Lee playing his interpretation of Randy Rhoads’ greatest ever guitar solo.

Buckethead is one of the most technically gifted guitarists alive, and almost nobody knows what he looks like. He plays in a mask and rarely speaks. Here he is warming up with a nod to Randy Rhoads' "Diary of a Madman" before diving into his own "Big Sur Moon."

If you want to know why we still talk about Randy Rhoads, just hit play. A literal exorcism on six strings.
