A standard propane gas cylinder used for cooking or heating, when fully charged, can have an internal pressure of approximately 5-10 bar at room temperature. However, propane pressure can vary with temperature: it increases as the temperature rises and decreases as it drops. Propane is flammable in an air concentration range of about 2.1% to 9.5%, and if it mixes with air in these proportions, it can become highly explosive. A fully charged cylinder, in the presence of an ignition source and in the right concentration conditions, could cause a significant explosion, damaging surrounding buildings and objects.
