Animated #GaussianSplatting can now be streamed like a YouTube video. So far, you had to download large files BEFORE experiencing them anywhere, but Gracia has just released several demos that stream like a normal video. The first thing I tried was to make a side-by-side comparison, but I could hardly notice any difference. As long as you have a solid internet connection, you can play them on the web, headset and even on mobile in #augmentedreality. Interested in the latest in #3D, #XR and #AI? I took it a step further and used Moon VR Player | Your Private Cinema to watch the trailer in Apple Vision Pro on a giant screen with Quality Boost and Realtime 3D. Yea, I used AI to take an AI generated thing and make it sharper and fully 3D. I kind of hate how much I loved it. Would I watch some of my favorite movies of all time remade this way? Yes I would. Turns out AI is getting to the point where it can do a very good job of taking the spirit of a live action scene and translating it to a compelling animation (at least better than the 1978 rotoscoped version of Lord of the Rings). And it's only going to get better. I absolutely believe this kind of training should be done with consent and licensing fees. Miyazaki hates AI and Lord of the Rings, so this kind of seems like a slap in the face to him. Ugh.

AI Mocap tools are evolving at breakneck speed... and I could find more than 10 all compiled and compared in a list you can get by subscribing to the XR AI Spotlight newsletter (link on top of my profile). This is Cartwheel and the stepping on that box was one of the most solid I saw. There is a bit of floatiness in the feet and they are not perfectly grounded, but since I tested the tool, the team has pushed massive improvement. What AI mocap tool do you use in your workflow? This is the latest Google research on XR Interaction: World Mouse. Instead of using hand rays or gestures to point at things in the physical space, you move a cursor with a mouse and the system figures out where that cursor should sit in the 3D world. It works in two main ways: - On an object, the cursor follows the surface, so you can move precisely across walls, screens, furniture, or virtual objects. - Between objects, the system creates a smooth bridge through space, so the cursor can travel from one surface to another. That means you can go from a 2D panel to a 3D object, place content on a real wall, manipulate virtual objects, or interact with physical devices through digital proxies. 🚨 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work. This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public. There are rumours it is considering introducing a 'commercial research exception' for AI training. This would be disastrous. It would mean handing the life's work of British creatives to AI companies for free, to train their models on. In the House of Lords today, a government minister refused to rule this out. To be clear, this would amount to legalising theft. It would fly in the face of public opinion on what is fair, and would mean a surrender of British creatives' work by this Labour government. It would mean the lobbying by big US tech firms had succeeded, and the protests of the UK's creatives had been ignored. People's work is not the government's to give away. If you're in the UK and you care about creatives and the creative industries, please write to your MP!

Videos using this hashtag are being posted by liberals all across the country who are using code words to spread information about ICE locations and where they want to meet up to organize riots and demonstrations. When sizes of boots are discussed, they are actually speaking of types of weapons. They are also revealing locations where ICE will be in order to protect illegals. Other topics discussed include how they will ass@ssinate certain leaders in this country, burn down buildings and houses, and go face-to-face with ICE with their selected weapons. To see the thousands of videos about this that have been posted in just the last 48 hours, type in the hashtag and scroll through the videos on TikTok. This is dangerous, and we need to pray for our ICE agents.
