I’ve lived around here my whole life, and I’ve never seen it this bad. The lagoon is being sand-filled and pushed back, but the water keeps advancing. One day we could wake up underwater.

90% of Lagos is on water. This is expected from time to time & no amount of drainage system can fix a city built on water from floods

Whenever Lagos government is ready, they will surely put in some work to control this. They will come up with Lagos is below sea water shii. Same way they have been shouting Lagos state produce tons of waste per day just to hide behind their incompetence in having a clean environment.

Failure is that every year at this time we see things like this and nothing is done about the drainage system of the business Capital of a country like Nigeria

The Lagos state Government, in order to resolve this issue, must take the issue of waste management seriously. If not, the whole state will be ravage by situation like this. Everyone is a stakeholder in the fight against flood. Let's all play our role adequately. The Government and the Masses.

It's always like this every year after rains. Is there no plans to build a proper ,standard drainage system in Lagos? Grabbing and reclaiming lands from the marshes, Lagoon and the sea has consequences!

Lagos is a bad place when it comes to rainy season.. the real issue right there is that the space water should pass houses and shops have been fixed there and the little drainage have some many refuses in it and that is hindering flow of water

The same flood will return next year, just as it has this year, if the government continues to do nothing as usual.

I am not pitying anyone Lets keep throwing things into the gutter Let Lagos state keep employing sweepers without proper disposal mechanism for sand and of course the sands make their way into the gutter.

Many moons ago, a wide canal around that Dunamis Church (house of God that did not exist in 90s and early 2000s in that locus) and another one around the Atunrase Estate. With this flood, I can tell that the canals have become very slim.

This is the result of building on lagoons, this is not a drainage or waste issue. I grew up in gbagada and it was never like this, it rained every year and the express was never flooded. Lagos state govt greed will be the end of lagos, houses every coz of taxes and all

This is just the beginning of worst floodings to happen in Lagos. Times and seasons have changed. Nature is fighting back. Lagos, get ready to be submerged below water in the coming years.
