Gemini 4 Argon is amazing for knowledge work and coding - and it’s super fun to build with! We asked it to create this wizard chess game and it's so cool to see Argon's physics understanding & 3D modelling capabilities, makes me nostalgic for Battlechess on the Amiga -...

wizard chess is such a good test prompt. the black pieces already look properly menacing, that hat silhouette is great

- What strikes me is how quickly the question is changing from can the model build this? to can the model keep building correctly over a long trajectory? Physics, 3D, code, tools, planning , all of that is becoming one continuous system. And the longer that system works, the more important it becomes to observe not only the final result, but whether the trajectory still matches the original intent. Capability is getting impressive. Now observability has to catch up.

Battlechess nostalgia lands. Frontier demos keep getting prettier. The boring question is still who owns the mistake when the piece goes through the board in production.

Battlechess was the game that made me want to build games. Now one prompt gets you a 3D wizard chess with physics. This is exactly why I'm excited about the frontier race. Every jump makes building games faster and gets us closer to curing diseases.

But can it make Black & White 3?

love the fine print: "screen images simulated, results for illustrative purposes." every AI launch in one sentence

You work for an evil empire that, along with you, sucks up to a fascist total moron who is sending armed thugs into our streets to terrorize our neighbors & sending our young people to die in a stupid war with Iran, bombing children's schools & driving up all our costs of living.

how many attempts did the chess demo take?

battle chess shipped in 1988 with the pieces killing each other in full animation, and it only took until 2026 for the pieces to start writing the game too

I really hope it comes to Pro too. Don’t leave us out. A lot of people use Pro to try things first before upgrading to higher plans, so excluding Pro would be a huge mistake.

Wizard chess is the new hello world. Same physics demo needs to survive a 10k-line refactor nobody filmed.

wait it built the whole chess game itself?

If devs are building with it for fun, the utility will follow. That's the pattern with every model generation that actually stuck.
