Gemma 4 is now available in Android Studio! By running Gemma 4 locally on your machine you get access to AI code-assistance that doesn't require an internet connection or an API key for its core operations — so you’ll never run out of token quota →

Is it really useful? I got tired of the AI code assistant inn Android Studio: recommendations were based in very old libraries, always looping on solutions, some times making wrong inferences, sometimes erasing comments.

It's too slow and can't get any tasks done.

Good for the open source community for giving GEMMA 4 🤗.

Go slow so that people can catch up. In 2 years the entire IT industry has been made redundant which is fishy. Most likely AI was developed long back but the ppl behind it waited till america ran out of money to no longer digitally colonize the world and had insurmountable debt.

Next, you can perform RL to enhance the model’s performance and achieve maximum bench press. Wow

This is the right move. Running code completion through a cloud API adds 200-400ms roundtrip latency that kills flow state. Local MoE inference on Apple Silicon gets that under 50ms.

@EdunMichael do u under stand

Insightful

how's the latency on local inference compared to api calls? actually wondering if it's good enough for real time autocomplete or if there's still noticeable lag

I didn’t even know there was a thing called “Android Studio.” Can I upload the code/files of a native Swift iOS app I built and you make it Android for me? 🥹

This is incredible

@mykedun do u understand
