I believe they showed Idi Amin as a statesman who, despite his many flaws, was prepared to go to great lengths to defend Uganda's sovereignty and stand with the marginalized Palestinians against Zionism, rather than bow to foreign pressure. In my view, the current regime has chosen a different path—one of preying on innocent citizens, brokering botched agreements, serving foreign interests, and overseeing the looting of the country's wealth for four decades while deepening divisions among the people of Uganda instead of fostering national unity.
