Gen X it’s sad when you think about it this way

People think the 'Matrix' will be imposed upon us. The truth is, we willingly seek to join with it. I myself am guilty. It's a Will-o-the-Wisp you know. But so hard not to follow.

I know what life was like before social media and I’m a millennial

I remember going to a party once. About 10 of us went out quite a ways from the house, formed a circle, drank and smoked (weed also). There was no portable music player or cell phones. No pictures to remember it. Just a bunch of people living in the moment. I still remember it.

I wrote my first couple term papers using a card catalog at the library. Hand wrote them on paper and then typed them out on the school computers.

Well this is bullshit. Millennials are the last generation to remember what it's like before social media. Generation X invented social media.

The depiction absolutely true.. I deliberately go out for long walks without my phone. I can't tell you. How many times I reached for my phone to take a photo? And it's not there.. Guess what it's. Its okay..... Life so they say is but a dream and we let it slip away.

Analog memories are infinite.

There was a certain mystic to life then. I don’t think we can really explain how it was. Gen X we are so lucky to know what everyone else is missing out on! To leave home and have no phone, pager , cameras watching us or gps. Total freedom!

Gen X had some good times! I really still live that way, I don't ride my bike as much as I used to though

And don't forget, we remembered over a hundred phone numbers.

Life was simple, People actually engaged in communication. We took the time to get to know one another, We had human contact with deep connections... Now we have faceless people yelling at you. Telling you what to do what to say how to act.... we have no communication with no emotions, no empathy. They will call you names if they disagree with you. They will threaten you... they think it ok and much easier when you're on the goddamn internet than in person, face-to-face.

Nowadays they will try to track you down to get you fired from your job if you don’t agree with their politics.

Social media caused all this division

It’s been said it was cable and then the internet. Before that all news came from a handful of channels. If you missed it on channel 7 you could flip to 4 and catch the story. Cable made them have to fight for viewers so they put a spin on it and then with the internet you can find a “news source” that will reinforce your bias

Back then I'm memorized everyone's phone number.That was important to me How many of you can even remember your significant other's number now? Back then I was able to navigate wherever I needed to go without a Google Map.

Civilization has reset before. Past civilizations may have had social media as well. A good way to loose everything is to make everything digital. Pictures, money etc.
