A bicycle then was the smartphone of today. A bike took you places out of your neighborhood to make friends miles away. We memorized our phone number and always held back a dime to make a call from a pay phone if we had to. On that call we could get information or directions back home if we were unsure of the route back or were running late. There were no pickups in the car. YOU got out there….YOU would get yourself back. When you returned home there was no requirement for a full report on who, what, when, where, why and how. You were home.

Not to mention there was commercials on TV. Remember that used to say do you know where your kids are at about 10 PM to remind our parents, especially during the summer that they had children?
