Ever wondered if you could extract capabilities and behaviors from neural networks and reuse/update/route it as needed? We introduce low-rank circuit conditioning, a novel approach that preserves the model's output behavior while reshaping how an existing capability is represented. In the base model, standard compact recovery stalls at 29%. After conditioning, the same extraction pipeline reaches 91.33% autoregressive full-answer recovery from 5.05% of MLP channels. 🚨 SCIENTISTS MAY HAVE FINALLY SOLVED ONE OF THE BIGGEST UNSOLVED PROBLEMS IN BLACK HOLE PHYSICS. For years, astrophysicists have struggled with the “final parsec problem”: even after two supermassive black holes get relatively close, they struggle to shed enough angular momentum to merge within the age of the universe. New 3D simulations reveal that magnetic fields in the gas disk surrounding a binary system can solve this. The fields trigger powerful outflows and jets that efficiently carry away angular momentum, allowing the two objects to spiral much closer together. The same mechanism also explains how some binary stars end up in extremely tight orbits. In the simulations, binaries without magnetic fields actually moved farther apart. With magnetic fields present, they rapidly lost angular momentum and migrated inward. Why this matters: • It provides a physically motivated solution to one of the biggest open problems in black hole astrophysics • Magnetic fields appear to be far more effective at removing angular momentum than previously modeled effects • The mechanism works for both star formation and black hole mergers • It shows that the environment around binaries (not just the objects themselves) plays a decisive role in their evolution The deeper implication: We often think of black holes and stars as isolated objects governed purely by gravity. But these simulations show that the magnetic fields threading the gas around them can fundamentally change their fate. I increasingly think future software will combine code for control flow with small neural programs for "fuzzy" judgments. That's what I've been exploring with ProgramAsWeights, which answers the question of where those neural programs come from: they are "compiled" from English descriptions. For example, I combined 30 neural programs with a decision tree to build a course website helper that looks like a chatbot but runs locally. Each small program handles a question like "Which specialist answerer should this be routed to", and code controls the overall flow. You can try building with it here:

We introduce an all-in-one adapter to enable a diffusion model for multi-weather (snowy, rainy, and fog) synthesis, along with a Temporal-View attention to ensure consistent editing across multi-frame and multi-view. 3. We design a 4D Gaussian field for weather particle modeling, enabling plausible simulation of raindrops, snowflakes, and fog with controllable severity. 4. 3D Gaussian Splatting for Real-Time Radiance Field Rendering paper page: Radiance Field methods have recently revolutionized novel-view synthesis of scenes captured with multiple photos or videos. However, achieving high visual quality still requires neural networks that are costly to train and render, while recent faster methods inevitably trade off speed for quality. For unbounded and complete scenes (rather than isolated objects) and 1080p resolution rendering, no current method can achieve real-time display rates. We introduce three key elements that allow us to achieve state-of-the-art visual quality while maintaining competitive training times and importantly allow high-quality real-time (>= 30 fps) novel-view synthesis at 1080p resolution. First, starting from sparse points produced during camera calibration, we represent the scene with 3D Gaussians that preserve desirable properties of continuous volumetric radiance fields for scene optimization while avoiding unnecessary computation in empty space; Second, we perform interleaved optimization/density control of the 3D Gaussians, notably optimizing anisotropic covariance to achieve an accurate representation of the scene; Third, we develop a fast visibility-aware rendering algorithm that supports anisotropic splatting and both accelerates training and allows realtime rendering. We demonstrate state-of-the-art visual quality and real-time rendering on several established datasets.
