A New Zealand psychology journal has removed a peer-reviewed paper. Not for fraud. Not for error. But because it didn't align with the college's values. The author is a Māori clinical psychologist. Her paper was pulled to "protect Māori". The answer to a paper you disagree with is to argue back, not to take it down. Removing it doesn't refute it. It just tells every clinician that some questions are now off the table.

We skipped our own wedding and flew to SF. LLMs are the last piece of software that application developers still can’t easily build themselves. We’re letting every developer build their own LLMs in TypeScript, not Python. It’s Next.js + Vercel, but for building LLMs. In the last 7 days, users made 80k+ calls to models they fine-tuned. 3 devtool companies are running Arkor in their production pipelines to serve task-specific models with lower latency. This is wild ChatGPT 6 is asked how many of the letter “E” are in the word seventeen. It can’t get the correct answer no matter how many times you ask. Even if you make it count out the letters, it still can’t get it right It will actually get an attitude and show frustration with you for trying to get the model to say the correct answer I ran the test multiple times and it keeps getting it wrong. When it does get it right, if you ask why it keeps getting it wrong it will then “correct” itself back to the wrong answer…. It even claims to be the smartest AI available According to Grok many AI models get 17 wrong. It has to do with LLMs. I asked Grok and it gets it right no problem It’s really wild that we are putting so much faith in AI when currently there are issues like this on such simple things

Can AI tell when a question is total nonsense, or does it just make up an answer? Peter Gostev (SF 24-28 August) tested 80 models with nonsense questions. Some pushed back. Others confidently invented fake metrics and kept going. All of them were ranked on the "BS Bench". One surprise: thinking harder made it worse. Watch the full deep dive on BS Bench on YouTube.
