For years, I’ve been screaming that Orwell and Huxley were warnings, not manuals. Sadly, I’ve now come to believe they were merely pre-programming.

They’re being used as manuals by some it seems.

The joke is, that BBC would not air this clip today.

This is from a 2003 tv-movie, but I think it captures the essence of Orwell.

The moral degeneration and political intoxication stop here, and now. Ambitiously optimistic as this may sound, as orders of magnitude more powerful the forces needed to make it happen. Forward is the only direction.

Does anyone get the irony of this being a BBC production?

Smart man. I’ve read a few of his books, we didn’t have cable growing up so I did a ton of reading, and it’s funny how many things he was right about. I don’t watch a lot of tv, never have, so books have always been my thing.

@wendyp4545 Recently re read 1984. Originally read it in high school in the late 60s. It was just weird entertainment back then. Now it is SO reflective of the direction our country and the world is moving. Our only choice is to choose not to accept this reality. Silence is not an option.
