Mount Vernon was honored to welcome His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh, to Mount Vernon yesterday. The visit marked his return to the estate, having previously visited in 2001 as the Earl of Wessex. The Duke visited the new Education Center and met with volunteers, toured the Mansion and Revolutionary War Encampment, laid a wreath at Washington’s Tomb, and viewed selected items at the Washington Library. British royal visits to George Washington’s home date to 1860, when the future King Edward VII came to pay his respects. > In Bihar, a man was caught stealing from a farmer. > When asked why he stole, he said there was no money at home and he hadn’t eaten since morning. > Instead of humiliating or beating him, the farmer offered him food. > The man became emotional and tears rolled down his face as he ate. > Sometimes, behind a crime lies hunger, helplessness, and desperation.

JUST IN: Sylvester Stallone introduces Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago, says Trump is like the “second George Washington.” “We are in the presence of a really mythical character. I love mythology.” “This individual does not exist on this planet. Nobody in the world could have pulled off what he pulled off.“ “When George Washington defended his country, he had no idea that he was going to change the world. 'cause without him, you could imagine what the world would look like.” “Guess what? We got the second George Washington.”

Most people who visit the Capitol never get to see what I’m about to show you. 👀🏛️ When the Capitol was built, Congress initially intended for George and Martha Washington to be buried in the center of the building. However, they never consulted George Washington about this plan, and he wanted to be buried at Mount Vernon. After the crypt was completed in 1826, the Washington family chose to honor George & Martha’s wishes, leaving them buried at Mt. Vernon. Come with me to see where the Washingtons were supposed to be buried in the Capitol building. This area isn’t open to the public, but in honor of America’s 250th birthday, I wanted to give you a behind-the- scenes tour of some of the most special places in our seat of government.

The myth of George Washington is more important than the “history.” Why? Because myths are the container of a culture’s ideal values. Our founding hero could have been like the Romans— a man who murdered his own brother. But our ideal hero is a giant who “never told a lie” and kneeled to pray at Valley Forge. That our culture selected those values to revere and preserve in myth isn’t “propaganda” about our past. It is the archetype we aim toward. Mythological hero George Washington is a story we should keep telling.

After years of courageous struggle against unlawful vaccine mandates and always being a bold witness to his Catholic faith, my good friend Kyle Carter was promoted to Commander in the US Coast Guard today, thanks to the tireless advocacy of former-JAG Tom McGuire and Ret. Captain Scott Calhoun. In the background is Mount Vernon, home of George Washington.
