German roofs often feature steep pitches, clay or concrete tiles, ensuring longevity and resistance to harsh weather. They emphasize quality materials and craftsmanship, reflecting a long-term investment mindset. American roofing predominantly uses asphalt shingles, offering a cost-effective, quick-to-install solution, suitable for milder climates and reflecting a preference for affordability and ease. Architectural styles, local climate, and cultural attitudes towards maintenance and investment shape these differences.

All types of roofs are found in America. It depends on your budget and climate. America is a very big place.

Well US homes are mostly wood with weak support so a heavy roof would not be a smart idea. European and german homes are mostly Brick or reinforced concrete so can hold a high quality, heavy materials roof.

I have a metal roof in the US. My neighbor has a slate roof. There's plenty of ways to roof a building.

Unfortunately American houses are twice as big so it’s not cost effective to use tile/shale. Not to mention cost of transport. Those German roofs are gorgeous
