I'd add railway connections here. It takes much longer to travel around in eastern part of Germany.

do you notice. even the west has much more immigrants, the ultra right AFD is stronger in the east, with anti migrant slurs and racist mindset. its also the place with most RUSSIAN imigrants! go figure

Kinda happens if you split the country apart for 50 years and run a nationscale A/B test on capitalism vs communism with a healthy dose of us vs. them propaganda, active measures to turn the paranoia up to 11 and an army of spies on each side.

Looking at this... I support East German independence.
